Great price! Currently wearing mine that I picked up a few months ago for $619. It's a great watch and been my go to daily.

Fits both dress settings or sporty casual wear.

damn good price. I'm hopefully it will go under $550 for the Black Friday sales which i will pounce on! Such a beautiful watch and for under $600 is a steal.

  • +2

    ohh that's tempting

Per space cadet's comment in the SB post you can get the same watch at Watson's for $605 delivered plus 5% off if you sign up to the newsletter. But, don't be afraid to hit that 'Request a Price Match' button. They're always happy to match where they can, or at least come darn close to it. The positive side of Watson's is you get great personal service, something that is not always included with Watch Depot.

You definitely dont get that these days with business mainly being all done online. I can see watsons is a real old school family setup and those are hard to come by.

Indeed! I had a very interesting conversation with Neil a couple of weeks back and he hinted that there may be some good things coming in the new year for the watch fans. I'm kind of excited to see what it's going to be - Tasmania as a whole is underserviced for this niche little hobby of ours, even Hobart doesn't have a decent dedicated dealer presence. Watson's is the only place on the whole island that has more than just a token range added onto the rest of the business. All the staff there are fairly knowledgeable, and Neil himself has been in the industry since forever, but Isaac is your man if you ever want to do a deep dive into the watch world.

  • Is this the panda watch that you bought or similar?

    • +2

the panda is ssc813p, and slightly smaller.
      same family.

Ok thanks. I see it says silver dial and looks silver in the first picture but it looks white to me in the second picture.
I’m loving the look of this watch. Might get it for Christmas.

I actually bought this one instead of the one you posted, haha thanks!

        • +1

Wear it in good health and welcome to the ssc813p gang

  • Lol. How many Wongingtons here? Are they twin, or triplets?

  • Is it crazy that I just paid $200 more for the Pogue CW?

    • Not if you love it

Ps where did you get a Pogue for 779?

      • +1

        Sorry guess I should've said $220 more.

Got it from a friend, he's a star.

Any plans for this to be reduced
Seiko Prospex SSC939P Speedtimer Solar Chronograph

    Same model, different colour

  • How is 41mm "Go Large" ? Or what doe it refer to? Id get this in a heart beat if it really was large (45mm)….. Back to the Sumo for me…..

    • I mainly wear the smaller ssc813p on a 7 inch wrist and I think it’s just right. Otherwise I also wear ozbargain favourite steeldive sd1970 a lot, which is 44 … and I think it’s about as big as I can get away with really.

  • If only it was 12mm. Disappointing it’s still as thick as an automatic Chronograph watch

  • Sorry silly question are these generaly made in china or japan?

    • Good question, im going to assume for Seikos the Movement would be Japanese. I've got 2 and they are both labelled as "Movement Japan"

The face of the watch has Japan but hopefully someone with one can verify what's on the back plate

      • +2

Here's the thing, if Seiko do what companies with "Swiss "movements do they can manufacture some parts in China and if it meets a requirement it can still be considered a Japanese movement.

Here's the guideline for a a watch to be considered Swiss, haven't found anything for Japanese movement yet:

A watch movement is considered Swiss if it meets the following criteria:
Assembly: The movement is assembled in Switzerland
Technical development: The movement's technical development takes place in Switzerland
Inspection: The movement is inspected by the manufacturer in Switzerland
Manufacturing cost: At least 60% of the manufacturing cost is generated in Switzerland
Component value: At least 50% of the total value of the movement's components is Swiss-made, excluding the cost of assembly

    • I’ve got the panda… and I never once thought to check tbh, I don’t think it’s made in Japan. Wouldn’t bother me either way.

    • +1

Not 100 sure for the prospex line. But seiko 5 have either "K" or "J" . K is made in malaysia and Js are made in japan.

  • Great panda still $600 because it's saphire crystal? How is this different from an equally beautiful citizen ecodrive chrono? Genuine question. A ssk001 gmt is $100 less, isn't that better value?

    • ssk001 gmt is $100 less, isn't that better value?

Maybe. It doesn’t float my boat though.

Nothing wrong with eco drive chrono either. They sometimes can be had for cracking prices. But again, I don’t know, haven’t really come across anything that really raised my eyebrow.

      • +1

Fair enough. I was actually holding out for the watch in this post after recently purchasing my Edifice panda and falling in love with pandas.. But I couldn't justify the price and I recently came across this citizen: https://www.watchdepot.com.au/products/citizen-ca0840-87m-ec… and I absolutely fell in love with it, awaiting delivery in anticipation.

I also have an ssk001 which I absolutely love, it's beautiful and the lume shines at various angles, it grows on me every day I wear it, so much so I wear it all the time. I've blown my watch budget for two years, so I'm just going to circle thru my current watches.

  • large speed timer panda would definitely make me hit the buy button at this price.

  • Will pogue (ssc947) ever get to this price?

    • I’d be very surprised

    • looking forward to it. the watch is just sick. amazing colour scheme.

  • +3

Weekend Sale which includes the Citizen EcoOzB-Drive for $169.

    • +2

LOL - love the description. ;-)

    • +1

I usually am usually eh about Seiko 5 gmt sports but SSK035K actually kind of speaks to me

      • SSK035K is stunning, having owned the SSK001 and wearing it everyday, I'll buy it over the speedtimer. It's such an awesome watch. The GMT is one of those watches that grows on you.

        • See what happens for Black Friday. I’d be tempted to pick it up if it goes low 500s, just to see the fuss. Otherwise love speedtimers lol

          • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Yes, the SSK001 was/is? $475 from WD, incredible value. It's absolutely stunning. I always end up wearing this all the time, day and night, such a love a affair!

I've got new black straps for it but now love the Jubilee bracelet, I wont be changing it.

  • Surely SSC813P under 600 for the boys

  • Looks like the price has gone up to $660
