$6.50 Event Cinemas Movie Tickets, $13.50 Hobbit HFR 3D, $25 Gold Class Tickets + More

tixeachitempromo650

Update
I think the code has been fixed now
Also promo650 has been removed from the codebase for alot places

However this deal is still valid as you can still view the list of available codes in the source code. The "tixeachitem" code was simply an easy way to display them

An alternate way would be:

Open a javascript console in ur browser(f12 in Chrome/IE, ctrl+shift+K in firefox, then click on 'console') and type:

$('.tixeachitem').show()

and hit enter, all of the promo's will be shown just as if you entered tixeachitem

i think event just removed the codes temporarily while they apply some sort of fix. i highly doubt theyd stop offering promo codes permanently

Edited to be less confusing:

At the screen where you select the number of tickets,
on the right hand side is an option to enter a promo code
enter PROMO650 and a new option will appear for $6.50 movie tickets
Select the number of tickets you want and continue

This price is for standard sessions only, you have to pay extra for vmax, HFR and 3D, but as someone else pointed out, its cheaper than buying regular 3d VMAX, example below:

THIS CODE WORKS FOR 3D HFR of the Hobbit (4k ultra high definition, 3D, 48 frames per second session) - $13.50 (regular price $25.50)
YOU MUST BOOK 4K Movies using this link
http://www.eventcinemas.com.au/vmax-4k

For all other sessions:

Enter tixeachitem in the promo code section to unlock ALL the codes in available

Enter the above code to unlock all available ticket prices for each session type you choose (i.e. gold class, standard, vmax etc) just search through the newly unlocked lists to find the cheapest tickets
voila!

example if you wanted to watch Skyfall in 4k ultra HD, the normal price of gold class is $28, the code unlocks gold class for $25
for a regular session of skyfall in 4k ultra the price is $22.50, the code unlocks the $6.50 ticket (but it adds $4 premium for being a 4K session for a total of $10.50), but you will notice i also unlocks Rydges loyalty web, which is $10 (50cents cheaper)

here are some noteworthy codes:

enter "herald" or "goldclass25" for $25 gold class tickets
beforedark - no idea what this is for but it says: "GC Gift Pack Before 5pm - $96.75"
rydges - some standard sessions and possibly vmax sessions work with this code for $10 tickets

Credit goes to user Forgot69 for the following code:
rydges1 - Unlocks $13 Moonlight Cinema in the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne

Enjoy!
giggidy

edit you need to pay the usual $1.1 online booking fee as well

Here is how i got the code:
removed how i got the codes so Event cinemas will find it harder to close the hole

TL:DR version:

  1. enter the code tixeachitem at the page where it asks you for a code

  2. select the cheapest ticket types

  3. ???

  4. Profit (or in the case of ozbargain, impulse purchase)

The precise figures are beside the point. They were an illustrative device (an unsuccessful one, I'll grant) to try and make the point that the loss of all the codes due to the exploit is a mere fart in a thunderstorm. The residual bitterness felt is simply moralising over something that is inherently immoral - i.e. exploiting a loophole.

Where does one draw the line to say how many OzBargainers would have been able to take advantage of the codes before Event Cinemas noticed an unusual number of claims against them? Will that be the same, more or less than the people who used them as a result of this post?

The countdown started the minute the codes were first posted. The exploit just brought about the end in a spectacular way.

So much sadness. Looks like alot of people won't be going back to the movies until the Rydges code (or something similar) comes back.

I told you people to keep this quiet several months ago and everyone negged me saying everyone deserves to know. Survival of the fittest I say, if you found out then good if not then well too bad.

  • At least gold class during the day is only $25 now, which isn't too bad.

  • I sent my niece and kids to the movies with my rydges card at the box office for cheaper tickets and it still worked for $10 tickets (plus 3d surcharge). Phew ! I was almost sick at the thought of paying $19.90 for her adult ticket. The savings were blown on a jumbo combo.

    • By rydges card do you mean Priority Guest Rewards?

Just asking because I was hoping to sign up print off temporary card and head off to movies.

OMG!!!! Hobbit Vmax HFR….. 28$!!!!!!! This is like Gold Class prices! Sorry to say i am really annoyed that we have lost all the codes.

  • Is there any method of getting discounted tickets even in bulk without having to wait for them to be delivered / and also to be used online as i try to always book online before i go to the cinemas as otherwise its just such a gamble.

  • RAC WA have tickets through their online shop for $12.50 I think. You can choose either to have the tickets sent to you through the post OR have ticket codes sent to you instantly which you can then use to buy online.

Only catch is its 4 tickets minimum at a time. Still this may help some folks in WA….

Oh and this was specifically for event cinemas but they had similar offers for hoyts etc too.

Here the link for the store:

Here is the link to the prices:

  • Anything for NSW? I am with NRMA, I have the entertainment book etc. I dont mind if its 4 tickets or 10 if i can use it online and also get it quite quickly then it would be good.

    • Optus and hoyts if you have an Optus number?

      • I do have optus and can go to hoyts or reading, but the only thing is i think event has much better cinemas is that right? IS Vmax and especially the new HFR considerably better than what hoyts has?

        • According to this list, the following Hoyts locations are showing The Hobbit in HFR: Broadway, Carousel, Chadstone, Chatswood Westfield, Highpoint, Melbourne Central, Norwood, Penrith, Perth.

As for whether it's better or not, that's a matter of opinion. It is definitely noticeably different though, and it's worth seeing it in HFR to decide for yourself. Personally, after taking about 15-20 minutes to adjust to the higher frame rate, I loved it.
