WFH 2x 4k Monitor Dock

I need to purchase a USB C docking station for a WFH HP laptop.

The dock won't be moved around
PD charging is not a requirement.

Does need to support 2x Philips 328P6V monitors - 4k@60HZ, HDMI v2.0 MHL x1, DisplayPort v1.2 x1
Majority of the work will be in Excel/Office.

Has anybody got any recommendations, Black Friday insights etc??

Laptop is a HP EliteBook 850 G8

Thanks

  • Match brands with laptop for minimal pain. Your work should pay for this.

    • I'll buy now and refund from work later

Dell docks fit in the 'just works' category which most offices I have seen use exclusively. 3-year replacement warranty too. You do pay a bit more than other units though.

I have this (or similar?) i also purchased the monitor mounting kit and mounted them behind the monitor. Works a treat, cant see it, keeps the desk clean, no unsightly cables. No regrets whatsoever.

  • I looked at thunderbolt docks and they are expensive if you need certain features, but then realised my MacBook already supports 4x 4K monitor output over the thunderbolt/usb c ports. Maybe your laptop already has enough ports for 2x external monitors?

    • The laptop does have 2x usbc ports (plus 1x HDMI) so I could probably just use 2x usbc to HDMI or DisplayPort cables.
I think a dock would make for a tidier solution though.

Dell Docks ftw, had several and they all just work. Currently using a Dell UD22 dock that I found barely used and half the price of new on eBay. Came in the original box and couldn't have told if they'd labelled it as brand new. Has support for multiple 4K monitors and ports galore.

Alternatively their Dual Charge dock is a wireless charger in itself, very cool and can be had brand new on eBay for approx. $200.

  • Looks like I'll be getting a Dell WD19S locally from FBM.
    Thanks for the suggestions
