  • Anything like this for 16 inch would be good. I am also looking for one to buy during travel.

The bigger OLED monitors (including the 16" models) typically cost twice as much or more.

The 3K 16" variant just came out a few weeks ago; last time I checked it worked out to around AUD $330 delivered when using discount codes.

  • I have one of these and it's been great with good build quality (aluminium rear housing with plastic bezel). The price has been cheaper in the past but it's not bad value at this price (I think I paid around $140).

Does it work with just a Mobile phone powering it via USB-C?

      • +1

Depends on how much power your phone can supply, these small OLED monitors draw around 5W of power depending on brightness level. Would definitely drain your battery fairly quickly.

Update: I looked up the data I recorded with my Power-Mate Lite energy meter:

        • at 50% brightness, the monitor draws 3.4W
        • at 80% brightness, it draws 3.84W
        • at 100% brightness, it draws 4.17W

Your best bet would be to power the monitor with a portable power bank, which should last you for a few hours.

I don't have a phone with USB-C, sorry, but it has two USB-C ports (one can be used as aux power) so you can always charge off one port and display with the other.

      • Only a few phones support external monitors

portable monitors - the new eneloops

    • Connect it to the phone, and it's a tablet that doesn't go obsolete when the newfangled OS version comes out.

Works great as a DMD in 3 screen virtual pinball setup. The colours really pop.

I was a bit sceptical when I got one for the price but it turned out to be great.

I concur, it's a great screen for the price. 100% DCI-P3 coverage means the colours look great.

I felt like 13" is a bit small for me so I'd rather have a 16" screen or bigger, but the portability is undeniable, and the price is reasonable — bigger screens cost twice as much or more.

My only wishlist for improvements for the next model would be:

      • 120Hz or higher refresh rate for gaming
      • VESA mount so you can use it with a monitor arm. Yes, you can buy tablet VESA mount adapters that work for this purpose, but they tend to be pretty expensive (I paid $55 for mine).
    • An OLED for a DMD, isnt that a little overkill to replicate dot matrix ?

Got one of these from another deal (another brand). Whilst it's good, if I did it again I think I'd go for touch screen.

    • Wait… this is not touchscreen??

  • any techhead(pedantic) seen this in person?

    • Yes. I seized the day when there was a previous post. The screen is awesome if they size works for you.

The colours really pop and are super vivid as is the overall image. I was highly surprised to be honest as I saw Oled and thought it was likely some marketing gimmick but it is decent.

If you are looking for a series of comments re gamut, saturation etc then I can't help with that as I'm not that big of a tech head.

      • thanks for that. glad someone can describe its quality in person
