Harvey Norman has some deep discounts on Hubbl Glass - the 55" is $800 off and the 65" is $900 off.
I personally have the 55" (and ordered another at $600 for the bedroom) and am verry happy with it

yes, it has 3 HDMI inputs as well as an antenna input as well you can access by selecting the input in the OS
Don't see why you wouldn't be able to just add on another media source via HDMI in the future.
If you are buying this buy if the hardware is half decent. Buying based on OS is never a good idea, most inbuilt OS aren't that great and gets slow with updates.
You'd be crazy to buy this over a Google TV/Android TV, being stuck in the Foxtel ecosystem is a terrible idea.
except your not stuck in the foxtel ecosystem. it has HDMI inputs you can select. if your looking for a new TV, the Glass hardware is actually quite good - i have one already and ive brought another a this price
It's targeted at people that want simplicity, not at people that run everything from an external source. It's just going to be another doorstop like what Telstra TV is now.
Quick question, if I may… Can you set the TV to always change to an HDMI input when you turn it on?
I would be using it with a Chromecast or Nvidia shield and want to make sure there's no need to change inputs every time we turn it on.
Thanks.
I'ma ctully not sure as i don''t use mine that way
@Tejas57: No worries. Thanks anyway.
Wouldn't it turn on on the last input used? All my TVs behaved like that, I would assume this wouldn't be different.
@ShouldIBuyIt: it first comes up with the Hubbl OS home screen
@Tejas57: Well that sucks
@ShouldIBuyIt: Not surprised as they're trying to make it easy for people who don't like complicated devices. Makes sense to always land on the same home screen.
Won't suit my use case though. Thanks for the info.
@wittyidea3460: Not surprised as they're trying push their own subscription.
FTFY
@ShouldIBuyIt: The device supports CEC so once the external device is powered on the TV will switch to that input and theoretically also power itself on as well.
What makes it good hardware?
the sound output is actually very good (it has an inbuilt soundbar) and the screen shows no judder or tearing
I have a name brand Android TV which still works but stopped getting updates because the vendor no longer provides the updates. Much like phone companies only provide Android/iOS updates and security patches for a limited time.
And after that, it’s up to app authors to determine whether they support older OS versions. Or you end up using it as a monitor for a smart STB/dongle.
Being tied to a proprietary OS on your TV can be a pain! Especially when it is no longer supported
Neighbour (IT professional) is a migrant who uses SBS on Demand app etc on TV to view media from his previous country with family.
Sony TV operating on Android. But Sony stopped updates. Sony's solution - buy a new TV😝
There's usually a work around.
Solved by casting from laptop. A pain after years of easy use.
Use a $99 Fetch Mighty box.
Recent update to OS - can no longer log into SBS on Demand app for movies.
Contacted Fetch support. Told to Factory Reset box - wiping all data including 700GB of recordings… No way😝
I am assuming these are just low-mid range 4K TVs with Hubbl functionality built in, contract manufactured for Foxtel (and Sky UK - who sell the Sky Glass). RRP seems complete bullshit but given this is cheaper than a halfway decent Hisense I guess it's a decent price.
nobody hubbling
🤣🤣🤣
i actually would consider a hubble box if it could do plex + maybe stremio!
I'm interested in this Hubble TV for bedroom. I like the idea of the "built in soundbar" but can't live without Jellyfin.
@wittyidea3460: yep - especially fot the AU market, where we are a bunch of content pirates, it makes no sense to lock these devices down.
the first rule of subscriber expansion is to get your branded box in the home in the first place!
so many plex/jellyfin/kodi and increasingly stremio users just walk on by… yet so many also use kayo/disney and free-to-air catch up
hubble marketing seems like hamish and andy are trying to trick us into paying a highly rigid walled ecosystem
That they (Foxtel/Hubbl) thought they could sell these at $1,395 for 55" is hilarious.
Having said that, $695 for a 65" panel, albeit "no name", isn't completely heinous.
Unless picture quality just blows away others in this sub $800 range, I don't see why you wouldn't get a Falcon from JbHifi with Google Tv built in.
It weighs 37kg for the 65"?! No thanks…
Wonder if the boot screen of these has those 2 "comedians"
theres no boot screen - its pretty much instantaneous on
I should have put "/s" at the end of my comment
If only Hubbl would match this price + $150 cashback via Topcashback
FYI, Hubbl Glass is a rebranded Sky Glass. (released in the UK in October 2021)
Before jumping on this deal I would recommend you do some research on what long term Sky Glass users have to say about it. (spoiler. it's not good)
I love it when a Murdoch investment fails. Hubbl has been hemorrhaging cash from day one. Great to see.
will probably get cheaper. The C655 is probably a much better choice around this money and has been way cheaper at times if you are happy to go with the 50 inch model. Though the 55 inch model on the TCL gets 2.1 sound and higher refresh rates. This Hubbl TV gets a built in soundbat and could be a bargain at the right price, like anything. I don't see it a bargain at this price though. Lol
Anyone know when Hubbl enevitably goes offline, will the TV still work?
