Drop + Grell OAE 1 Headphones

These popped up today and I'd never heard of them.

The specs look interesting, reviews of the original seem to be bouncing around (face hitting bass, flat make vocals - not sure how both of those can happen)…

Does anyone have experience with these?

I am not an open back person, headphone-wise and I understand that marketing is always a thing, but to throw in French to create a feeling "Au Naturel Driver Placement" is a bit crap/BS.
What happened to using straight forward words?
Reddit has something about the drivers:

" Apple EarPods use a biocellulose diaphragm."

    • It is weird… Apparently the guy behind them worked on the Sennheiser… Don't have the models now…. But this was designed to play with the idea of stereo sound in the way we've been accustomed to hearing it through two speakers….I'm not explaining it very well, but it's in one of the reviews on the page.
It seems weird that a male voice, which id traditionally associate with lower frequencies, would come through as flat while bass overall wouldn't but maybe it's because the richness of the voice across frequencies gets swallowed?

  • Doesn't look great - a quick Google search would likely get you more results -

    • Thanks. I am a fan of graphene drivers, (affordable in 1more, but also in ORA).

I do think headphones that sample like NURA are also a good idea (if it was more affordable.)

    • Interesting Reddit - the designer is on there replying, which is nice. Not necessarily convincing but…intriguing.
