A good price and seems to be preempting Insta360's own Black Friday sale, which is not live until 8pm AEST today. Insta360's BF price will be $748 but you can get a free selfie stick if you sign up to their BF deals, therefore the value comes out to be similar to Amazon (assuming you want a selfie stick).

Update: Mobileciti on Ebay are now doing it for $698: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/145728984935

Edit: Back in stock

Don't forget to factor in another $600 for accessories.. a selfie stick and memory card get you started but won't be enough

    • +7

They sell the original accessories on Aliexpress if you want stuff for 1/2 to 2/3 the price and can wait for the delivery time.

      • Yes, I had a look.

Insta360 own branded accessories are generally really good quality.

        • +1 their invisible sticks have survived africa, asia and the Himalayas with me. And I had it from the X1 (which is still going strong).
Dive case, dont' skimp, however note, buy two if you're going around coral as it WILL scratch up.

      • +1

So only $400 for accessories if you wait

      • I just had a look - under accessories they don't explicitly list X4 as a category, but from looking at the official store most X3 accessories seem compatible anyway.

        Is that right?

        • +1

Yes, I can confirm they don't have accessories for x4 on their AE Official store. However, the size of x4 is bigger than x3. So Lens guards, silicone case, storage, battery will not fit. So you're just looking at Memory card and Selfie stick, which in my opinion, you will find better deals else where.

    • +3

I disagree, I have had multiple insta360 cameras including the x-range and have very rarely needed accessories beyond a stick/clamp, memory card and maybe some batteries.

    • You don't need much accessories with this, selfie stick, bike mount, pole/table clamp, lense protector. They're like $20-40 each from reputable brands like ulanzi.

  • Love this. Bought one in Japan last year. A brand new perspective on remembering the trip! No one gets left out of videos/photos.

  • I've been hanging for a 360 camera forever and a day. Is this the one, should I just grab this?

    • +2

If you have the money and think you will use it, then yes. This product was only release a few months ago and has very impressive specs. Not to mention replaceable lens guards (I can't over-emphasise how important these are for future proofing this camera).

Same boat.. Been hanging out for a black Friday sale. This is a very tempting price!

      • +1

        black friday will be cheaper

  • This or Insta360 GO 3S

    • +2

Different use cases. Are you going to be using it for walks mounted on a stick, in a car, on a motorbike (bulkier higher definition X4) or while running, doing something that needs both hands, cycling (ultra small GO 3S).

      • Mainly snowboarding and skiing, maybe some surfing? But I didn't ask the original question

  • Is that worth the difference of $170 to get the X4 rather than X3? I am new to action/360 camera. I am thinking to use it for travelling and road bike riding.

    • +1

I would say yes but have a look at this comparison post.

      https://www.reddit.com/r/Insta360/comments/1c5j4fi/differenc…

I think it is worth paying more for the X4. The increased resolution is important because you will likely be reframing your footage in post, and therefore your resolution will take a hit. Better to start with the most resolution you can get so that your end result will look its best.

    • +3

I have both, the difference in video quality isn't as large as you may expect… that said I strongly recommend the X4 purely because of the removable lens covers. I had one accident with my X3 and now I get to enjoy a blemish on every video and I was quoted $240 to fix the scratch.

    • Would like to know too, I've looked online and there are some (albeit bulky) screen protectors (eg. https://www.camzilla.com.au/Buy-X3-LG05) but would love to hear if people have had issues with these.

Looking to mainly use for videos/photos to show on socials and family.

    • Thanks all, just pulled trigger on the X4…..hope I will make good of it

    • The resolution is marginal imo. They both use the same sensor, only the X4 newer processor therefore can upscale(?) to a higher res.

Once you reframe the X3 the video resolution is roughly equal to 1080p.

$672 with price beat @ Anaconda using JB-Hifi.

    • Is there a listing for this price at JB-HiFi?

    • +1

      how??

      • Ticket price at JB is $747. Show it at Anaconda for their 10% price beat.

        • Just did this and got it for 672. As always the real deals are in the comments. Also picked up the tripod selfie stick and price beat as well ($49 at JB, 49.99 at anaconda, down to 44ish after the price beat).

    • +2

thank you OzBargain friend. One Insta360 x4 just purchsaed at Anaconda for $672.30, absolute bargain.

Still not compatible with Matterport a full year after release.

  • +4

Mobilecit offering $50 off using HGTECH1, takes it down to $679

    • Didn't work for me.

  • Looks like Amazon one will be coming with Lens guards so approx $35 saving.

    • +2

It comes with standard lens Guards!

      • Dont they all come with the lens Guard by default?

  • They have 3 different types of selfie sticks to get.
Which is the one people go for?

    • I got the 2 in 1 selfie + tripod

    • On the insta360 page if you click on one of the sticks and scroll down the page they have a nice comparison between them all. Length open, closed, weight, what they are best used for, etc. check it out so you can pick the one that matches your use

  • I don’t know how it is for cameras but the official Insta360 store is basically a drop shipper who don’t even charge GST on accessories despite the items costing the same from local retailers. Bought several hundred dollars worth of x4 accessories a few months ago and was very surprised to see no tax collected on the invoice.

  • +1

Looks like Amazon out of stock now

  • Just wondering if anyone has used the backpack mount or clip?
I'm looking for some good hands-free options that can give a 3rd person perspective from higher angles (Especially for hiking).
The bike kit has a chest mount…I wonder if that can be used backwards with a selfie stick, or would that be too heavy?

  • +1

Since Amazon is OOS, it’s also cheaper for $679 delivered at Mobileciti eBay

    • Down to $660 with PLUS120. You need eBay Plus.
