Up to 50% off Christmas Sale (e.g. Aer City Pack Pro $300, Was $375) + $9.95 Delivery ($0 with $99 Order) @ Rushfaster

280

Had been holding out for the Aer City Pack Pro Ultra, and got a nice bargain at $368 instead of $460

Sale on for other brands as well e.g. Bellroy

I know this price point isn't for everyone, but I had my previous backpack for 10 years so I think buying a well designed bag with premium materials is worth it.

Aer City Pack Pro $300

Hopefully this helps someone.

  • I thought my Antler backpack was already expensive.

I’m not sure I’d describe paying $368 for a 24L backpack a bargain when there’s a plethora of options available for much less.

      Upper middle class negs lol.

      But you aren't wrong.

Osprey make some of the best backpacks in history and you'll stop at around $150-200 for their best 20-25L stuff.

These Bellroy bags are less comfy, less resistant, more expensive and almost certainly nowhere near as good a warranty as Osprey.

And that's just one example off the top of my head.

Edit: hah I just remembered these are aimed at the Peak Design type people so that explains the price tag

Less technical bags are great for trips to the office. Even a basic Herschel works reasonably well. PD bag is great but very structured. It is likely overkill for most cases, unless you're a photographer.

I probably wouldn't take Bellroy bags hiking due to lack of ventilation but that doesn't mean it doesn't have its purposes.

I have Osprey bags, PD, Bellroy, Kreiga and a few other random ones. I generally just pick the best one for what I'm doing.

Bellroy warranty is 6 years while osprey is 2 years

Each brand has their purpose. Bellroy makes excellent slings while osprey is nonexistent in that department. I also find osprey bags generally lack organisation among other negatives but i can overlook that because of the value for money.

      • Ospreys are the shiz for hiking. Can't be beat.

What do you like about them? I am trying to understand the world of bags

          It's like Balenciaga.

Wanky and exclusive, if you don't like it you are poor.

Check out pack hacker website/YouTube and nomads nation on YouTube.

With more expensive backpacks, you're getting:

          • higher quality materials
          • better construction
          • longer warranties in many cases
          • design
          • specialisation(eg photography)
          • various features (latches, special materials, external connectors, etc)

Not all of these things may be important to you and in many cases, you'll likely find a cheaper most of the way there backpack. Diminishing returns and all that.

I have some more expensive backpacks and while they are nice, honestly, the bags they replaced were serving their purpose well enough.

        • I get paying for quality, but is the Aer City Pack Pro really worth 4x something like this?
          https://rushfaster.com.au/products/the-north-face-vault-back…

Granted it zips all the way down, has luggage pass through and a couple more compartments but $300? I'd want something more specialised like PD for that price.
