  • Good deal, but It was cheaper last month with cashback OzBargain , but no cashback now.

    • True! I forgot about that cashback deal. Wonder if it will drop any further with Amazon / Black Friday deals elsewhere.

So glad I gave up photography. Unless you're making money from it, photography is a complete waste of time, effort and money.

This is my opinion, so take it with a grain of sale, no offense intended (I'm kind of talking to myself here): So you've got a 2-dimensional picture of a mountain on the wall, which you created by pressing a button with your index finger. Congratulations. Well worth the 10 years of effort. How creative.

There are a myriad of much more useful, enjoyable, genuinely creative and beneficial hobbies worthy of our time and attention in my opinion.

Video, on the other hand, is an entirely different matter, as it allows for much greater creativity.

    • Ridiculous hot take, but I do agree that the money side of it is now completely stupid. Like a lot of things post-COVID, camera makers seem to be absolutely taking the piss with their retail prices.

    • Well, I’m not into static images, but I do enjoy live photos.

    • Video, on the other hand, is an entirely different matter, as it allows for much greater creativity.

What did you mean by this?

        p0rn… its always p0rn…

OP's take on creativity is odd … to say the least

What did you mean by this?

I just meant that movies allow for much greater creativity than a static image.

        • I feel like you can't realistically quantify "creativity" into a tangible value with objectively "good" and "bad" amounts, though.

Yes, video production can take a lot more effort than photography, and can do things that photography can't, but it doesn't make it inherently better - they're just different. You might find more immediate enjoyment in some videos than some photos, but the existence of the moving image doesn't invalidate the still one.

    • how to tell me you're bad at photography without telling me you're bad at photography

You're right, understanding how to use your camera, being in the right place at the right time, and then sitting in front of Photoshop for half an hour all require such genius. There should be a PhD for photography.

  • Seems exxy for a Sony a7 IV / R6 MK II competitor.. wonder if there will be any cheap Zf on sale tomorrow
