$900 to Replace OLP Sensor on Air Conditioner

Hey Folks,

Just been quoted $900 to replace an OLP sensor on my Samsung ducted aircon unit. Getting an e320 error on the unit.

Is this a rip off?

Depends. What were the other 2 quotes?

    • Equally as high

  • It appears to be a $150 part and about an hour's worth of work to replace it, then dremel the cover slightly so it doesn't rub against the PCB.

We have no idea what else they need to do, but even at 2 or 3 hours work, still seems high. Get other quotes but it's a tradies world nowadays, you don't really have much choice if they all come back similar.

OP probably getting killed by a call out charge. Can be up to $200 just for the call out. Doesn't matter if you are next door or 1hr away they will charge the same.

    • Thanks for this - yeah it might also be a PCB issue which will require replacement

    OLP $900!

    ULP!

    ELP!

  • Yeah, appears to be ~$150: https://lismorespares.com.au/product/db95-04871d-samsung-air…

Can not imagine it being more than an hour labour :/

  • Hey all! Apparently it might also be an issue with PCB board.

    • Apparently there might be lots of issues… they might not know till they actually start working on it

  • If you've already got 3 quotes the same, you either swallow the $900 with the reassurance it will be fixed, or you place an order, grab a screwdriver and youtube, and learn
