Asus Zenbook Vs Lenovo Yoga 7?

Hi all, I'm looking to get a new 14inch laptop for home internet browsing, streaming TV, and casual gaming (mostly puzzle / platform / point and click).

I'm tossing up between the Lenovo Yoga 7 2 in 1 and the Asus Zenbook Flip, both with OLED.

My dilemma is that I understand the Asus has a better screen (although I don't know how much poorer the Yoga's is), however the Yoga has a much better CPU for games (although I don't know what impact that would have).

The Yoga is also ~ couple of hundred dollars cheaper.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

  • Thanks for asking this. I had a similar question between the Zenbook and the MacBook Air M3. (Sorry I know this is not a helpful comment!)

Omg, I was as conflicted as you are. I was trying to choose a windows laptop (coming from a1989 macbook) and I was non stop refreshing the deals on ozb and asking people questions. I went into jb + good guys in order to have a look at some laptops and, what's more important for me, trackpads. I have googled numerous reddit posts about which windows laptop has the best trackpad and people kept replying that there isn't one. Lies…

I found after playing with the limited laptops available in OW, good guys, jb hi fi that I am leaning towards either zenbook or yoga series because of the quality of trackpad. I tried acer swift go (was 997 on recent sale) - found it to be very cheap outside and poor in terms of trackpad. I was close to pulling a trigger on ideapad pro deal here - I tried their trackpads and was also sadly not a fan of them (despite the specs of the laptop being amazing for the price). The one I truly thought was unbeatable was microsoft surface laptop 7 with snapdragon, sadly I wasn't brave enough to go with windows ARM yet.

I ended up going with 2-in-1 lenovo yoga the one that you posted (i bought it with $250 cashback from shopback). I was looking for zenbook but no deals could be found. I had a message yesterday that my laptop is shipped and hopefully will arrive in like 10 days. I'll update you what the quality is like - apprently some gens of yoga 2-in-1 had some hinge issues - but I don't intend to use it as a tablet anyway.

Sorry if it is not as helpful, but that's my two cents. Thanks.

    • I would have to agree with this approach. Both of those two laptops will be more than capable of meeting your needs looking at specs alone. What your decision should be based on is how good does it feel to use? That is a personal choice. So go to a store that stocks both and see how you like the using the keyboard, trackboard and looking at the screen.

  • The problem when I got to a store is that they have a bazillion different laptops all called Yoga 7! I'm not sure which is the one I'm looking at.

The other issue is that you rarely get a proper impression of the screen as you can't do everything in a store you would normally do at home.

    They both feel good imo.
