To the SMEs here, I have a work laptop hooked up to a portable monitor. I'm now out of type c ports. I'm wanting to get a 2nd portable monitor but can't figure out how to hook it up as you can only connect a type c cable to it. Is there a solution to this?

I got a "UGREEN Revodok 8 in 1 USB C Hub Triple Display Docking Station" for my work Dell so i could hook it up to 2x monitors which had hdmi connectors. Very suitable for me as I don't game, video edit or anything demanding.
Paid $34 delivered to sunshine coast qld from Amazon.
More information required. What Laptop and what monitors?
This helps thank you
USB-C’s biggest drawback is its lack of consistency across devices. While all USB-C ports look the same, their capabilities—such as charging, data transfer, and video output—can vary widely.
This fragmented standard means you need to choose a dock based on your device's specific requirements, as not all docks will support the same features.
General recommendations can often fall short, so selecting a dock should be a targeted choice based on what your device’s USB-C port actually supports.
You didnt answer what laptop n what monitor
Dell work laptop and a cheap portable monitor from Aliexpress that works fine but powered by typce c cable plugged to laptop
@alz: I use an ALogic dock. It has 2 hdmi ports.
Something like this

32 Inch Curved
34" curved with 3440x1440 with preferably IPS - this is what I use and I dont have any issues with staring at it for 8+ hours. I comfortably fit 2 windows side by side.
I love my 34" ultrawide and yes it's perfect for two windows side by side (or wide spreadsheets). If I had to have one monitor it would be this or make a 40ish inch 4K monitor.
For me though, I've also added in 2 x 27" 1440 monitors. These are the same physical height and pixel density as the 34" so work very nicely side by side (by side!).
27" + 34" + 27"
You need some space for this, but it's very useful when I'm giving online training to have one screen for the slides, one for the images of all the participants as well as chat windows and stuff and an extra for my notes or anything else I might need.
Overkill, probably. But awesome.
For the Dock, I have a Dell D6000 which happily drives all three at once (if the laptop supports it).
It depends on what you have and what you need. If it's just office tasks such as MS Office or browsing then almost any docking station you find on the internet should be fine. If you are gaming or performance is important do NOT use DisplayLink. DisplayLink compatibility is good but it compresses then decompresses the video streams so it results in noticeable lag and is unusable for gaming or if you have a bad CPU.
If performance is important, I would consider getting a DisplayPort MST-compatible docking station (I've noticed better performance than DisplayLink) or a Thunderbolt one if your device supports it.
I work from home a lot with my work laptop which has USB-C. My home PC has dual 27" monitors already so I bought a dual monitor KVM switch so I can use the PC or laptop with the dual monitors at the press of a button. This is the one I got and works well. https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0C1WWK37T?th=1
