It wouldn't with Optus for me, I ported to them for a few days and kept getting warnings. I still received them once I ported back to boost for a while. Was fine with boost last Sunday when I unfortunately broke my phone, and I texted the Telstra number to check and it said it was supported.
Mine works (with Aldi)
Mine works with Vodafone, doesn't work on Optus.
Optus absolutely not. They are blanket banning devices. Vodafone yes and Telstra maybe.
After one of their local resellers did a runner on Australian customers you would only risk buying a Xiaomi if you could walk into the store and test it live with your own SIM card
If you then get banned a few days later, at least you can immediately return and exchange
Also, if any one of Telstra, TPG/Vodafone or Optus ban the device (likely Optus), the other 2 carriers will eventually ban it as well
Not on amaysim (Optus)
Works on Lebara (Vodafone) not sure for if this will last.
Hi I have a poco F3, Mi10T both blocked by Optus, since 28/10 and since then working felix Vodafone.
Assume X6pro is the same , from above comments.
If these devices are working, no 3g and can call 000, assumption they canπ, then wouldn't it be more logical that other providers unblock as it's obviously a safe device. Rather than above comment about Vodafone catching up in a little time
and blocking like "Optus"
please keep updating your X6pro connection issues, would still love to buy as great specs even if have to go Vodafone
and since then working felix Vodafone.
what does that mean?
Felix (use Vodafone network)
…as it's obviously a safe device.
No
You're unnecessarily flipping a coin at the exact moment it could cost you big time
Consider this real world example
You are carrying your F3 and you get into an accident
The TPG/Vodafone reception from the nearest tower is garbage so you can only get the signal from the Optus and Telstra towers (not an uncommon scenario)
You dial 000 and because of the poor Vodafone signal, it cannot connect so your F3 automatically falls back to Optus or Telstra based on signal strength (as the emergency calling logic is designed to do)
Your F3 successfully connects to Optus but because of the existing TAC/IMEI block, your call is rejected
Now your F3 either falls back and tries to connect to Telstra OR even worse, you are now frantically trying to redial 000 because your F3 does not recognise the Optus TAC block and does not automatically fall back to Telstra
If your F3 even connects to Telstra, you are rolling the dice again because you don't know if they have a TAC block on the F3 as well
You now suffer the consequences of holding a paperweight in a life or death situation
OzBargainers love talking about value for money with phones but what good is value if you're not alive?
Wow living with worries of calling 000 what happens before mobiles , what happened when …….
Wow seems all rather like an Aussie government nanny state to me.
It's called reality
The Minister of Communications has made the call on your behalf and the carriers are enforcing the new rules
You are more than welcome to stay under the radar with the phones on Felix but if you ever end up shit creek without a working 4G paddle, don't start complaining afterwards that you knew the rules but didn't want to play by them
Like I said before mobiles we had emergencies too. And been a cyclist taken out riding in Europe, people care people not mobile phones .
How my nearly 3yo rubbish China phone still works all networks and only Xiaomi, poco problem.
I didn't know the rules ππ
Appreciate your point of view, Grim as it may be .
000 emergency calls use a special protocol that is a bit different to normal calls in Australia. When calling 000, it should connect to the strongest signal in range, regardless of if that tower belongs to your carrier or not. It should even work without a SIM. Most Xiaomi phones are hard wired to fall back to using 3G when calling emergency numbers, including Xiaomi POCO X6 Pro, which is bad because we no longer have a 3G network.
Even though this is a newer 4G/5G model it relies on 3G to make emergency calls to 000. As you will not be able to make calls to 000 this phone will not be enabled, AFAIK.
