Do You Think Everyday Extra + Delivery Unlimited Is Worth It?

I was weighting up whether to renew the Everyday Extra next month, then also saw the Delivery Unlimited half price deal. I go into the numbers…

So basically you are paying 7.875/month to get that $7.50 discount plus free deliveries (base on the $75 min spend). plus the $2 bag fee.

I only use the services for heavy items. A few times this year I find myself doing extra shopping just to use the discount as it often works out better just buy in Aldi or Amazon.

Do you consider these two subscription value? especially those who don't have a big woolies shopping bill?

Everyday Extra - I spend over $70 a month at Woolies so yes definitely.

Delivery unlimited- no. I have 3 Woolies in a 3km radius. Picking up is not a hassle for me.

    • Me too, 2 Coles, 2 Aldi and 4 Woollies within 10 min of train ride. I only cook ever now and then so it always small purchase.

Like I said its only attractive when heavy and bulky items not on special on Amazon, I buy at Woollies.

    • produce is better at fruit shops
    • Big W shops don't appear to have much (YMMV)

Produce is better at some fruit shops.

Generally speaking, Coles and Woolies take the A grade fruit and the rest goes to the markets to be sold.

Fresh fruit and veg we go to the shop for a few times a week to get as needed. Other goods we get delivered. First thing I do is search for specials, particularly half price, and load up, then get the regulars. With lists it's pretty quick and easy. Some things I would hardly ever buy at more than half price.

      • Yep - things will really depend on what is available in the area.

The things from our local fruit shop often seem to be better quality and last longer.

In my experience, except for their watermelons Coles and Woolworths have the superior grade of produce.

      • Depends where you are, I find my local store is significantly fresher than Colesworth because they buy it and stick it on their shelves. They also only stock what is seasonal, rather than playing a guessing game on whether it's fresh or has been frozen since 1996.

Granted, I live not far from the major distribution centre for fruits and vegetables in Melbourne, so the local stores are always cheap and very fresh.

Don't know why the down vote - definitely worth assessing your local fruit/veg shops against your local supermarkets.

  • I think both are worth it on the half price deal. If you're a single it probably isn't worth it, but if you're a small family getting it delivered is great. I'm happy to spend a few $$$ once a week if it means I don't need to deal with the carpark and sometimes waiting 20+ minutes for them to bring my shopping out. I can stay at home in my underwear and not need to do a thing. I also love the express delivery, my local normally has it on my doorstep in 30-45 minutes, which for $15 (or I think $7.50 with delivery unlimited), it's brilliant.

I think rather than look at the minimum, look at how much you actually spend and your own circumstances.

For me I tend to do at least one $150-200 shop each month. So I'm saving up to $20 each time, it's a no brainer. Free delivery makes sense for me because I WFH, I absolutely hate roaming around the supermarket finding stuff and I'd use delivery even if I had to pay for it each time.

I'm in a pretty set way of doing things though. There are a few items I buy from Aldi because they're cheaper and better (and I'm not far from an Aldi). Some stuff my local Aldi doesn't stock, that always comes from Woolworths and I always do at least one $150 shop a month. Meat, fruit and veg come from local stores and I tend to stock up on the weekend for what I need for the week.

  • Thanks for the comments…

One thing surprises me how much of you like to shop at local fruit and veg store. FOr me I hardly cook and only but a little bit of fruit every week so not too picky on the freshness issue.

I will need to do more thinking fir the two offers especially the delivery one. I already find it hard to hit $50, $75 will be a challenge.

For a two person family living in inner west apartments, it really doesn't make sense to do big shopping.

I would let lapse and pick up again with a new 1/2 price deal. There is a current one through to mid December.

  • I personally think it’s well worth it. I pay for delivery unlimited yearly and extras. I’m disabled and can’t get down to the shops to do shopping. I find the convenience of online shopping well worth it. The $75 min did put a damper on it. I have a Neibour with similar issues so we just put our orders together to reach the limit and get it delivered.
We do about 4 orders a week.
The service of Woolies has been great. They have a large variety on offer. You can see the catalog online and shop from it.
They bring it straight into my apartment so all I have to do is put it away.
If you need heavy or bulky items it’s hard to drag it in from the car ect. With them it’s easy as they have a trolley they can bring it straight to your kitchen table
You can get discounted gift cards with everyday mobile which is also great value. Or if someone you know has a seniors card you can get 5% off.

If you share with friends and family the cost of the delivery plan it becomes just a few bucks a week each.

I do orders for some friends too when they are sick or injured and can’t go to the shops

Often you can find a delivery slot available same day or next day from early morning all the way to late evening

You can get a free trial for one month. Give it a go.
