Hi Hi,
I would like to get a bluetooth speaker (or pair of speakers). I don't need a multi-room setup, can easily do without an app, speaker(s) will be stationary, so no need for a battery. Living/dining room is of decent size, so the speaker needs to be able to play up to that size. Budget is up to $1000 if it feels like good value, but happy to pay less if it sounds adequate.
I am listening to rock and classical music, so a balanced speaker is probably a better choice than a bass-heavy party box. I got a set of $200 Edifier as computer speakers that I like the sound of (but might need something a bit more powerful for the bigger room). I'd be interested to listen to Audioengine speakers from what I have read.
Does anyone have a recommendation for an audio showroom where one can listen to a few speakers to make an informed choice?
Any suggestions for speakers or showroom much appreciated. Thank you.

Try addicted to audio in Richmond - https://addictedtoaudio.com.au/pages/melbourne - they always have a big range of stuff.
That said, they tend to have more expensive items to demo, from my experience. They're not going to go ripping open boxes and setting up full systems when you're spending sub $1k. I'd rely a bit more on somewhere like rtings, where they do very specific measurements (so you can tell how balanced it really is) and comparative reviews. Equalisers can go a long way in getting the kind of sound you want too, even if it doesn't sound "right" in the store.
