  • Is this GPS any good? I am looking for a decent GPS, but at discounted price.

    • recommended

  • It's BAAAAAACCKKK!! With case. I had to buy a case last time.

    • What do you use the case for?
Do you always put it in case when not using our?

I just leave it in the centre console…

      • Only tend to use the Garmin on longer trips. Got way too much stuff in the car already for the kiddies - water bottles, snacks; cables for charging, music; knick knacks etc. And that's not counting stuff in the door pockets. When we're travelling, don't mind leaving stuff on the floor with more crap.

Got this which fit great: http://products.lowepro.com/product/Volta-30,2148.htm

Are you serious? What kind of portable car GPS is that which doesn't come with a map?

      • a garmin nuvi lol. yeah i know i was annoyed but i found several people with the same problem and i guess they got enough complaints so they have decided to start putting the map in

      • I think he probably meant free map updates. I have a Garmin Nuvi and its the same, no free map updates because its 3 years old now, and got it as a gift probably just before all the GPS makers started this free map updates thing.

        • no i meant what i said it did not come with maps. you had to buy the map card seperatly or download it. i know its strange but thats the way the were selling them. i did not know until after i opened the box and couldnt find the map card. i rang up and they said it is not included you have to buy it seperatly it doesnt come with it. their excuse was it did not say on the box that it included the maps. i dont know why you refuse to accept what i said. its not like i was going around stealing the map cards out of all their gps thats just the way they sold them at the time.

      • Mate I bought a GPS navigator and it didn't come with a screen, just a plastic blanking panel. So difficult to get directions with the audio only. I think enough people complained and now they come with a screen.

        • i dont know what your trying to acheive with that comment but i think your trying to be sarcastic and offensive. they do have gps that are audio only so what you said was a poor attempt at mocking me. i dont think edfoo was attacking my comment but seems you were and it wasnt funny. and i agree with edfoo: a normal person would expect a gps to come with the maps but the company was not including them which is not my fault so dont mock me because of that.

look at this gps http://www.productreview.com.au/p/uniden-gps-501.html note how the screen is, this gps comes like that it does not have maps its a compass, it takes you to suburb only by an electronic compass, its doesnt tell you what roads to take and you cant get maps for this because the unit is not designed to have maps, so not all gps have maps.

Mine didn't come with a compartment to insert batteries… so it won't even turn on.

  • i had a navman and it lasted for over 5 years and it got used alot. the garmin nuvi only used 3 times and only had it a couple months before it broke.
