    its cheap, yes.
would i every fly cebu pacific again, no.

What was so bad about it?

Delays? Cancellations? Or the actual flight?

      • +3

Constant delays, rebooking costs as much as "non budget" airlines. Domestic is worse. Ignore unless it's last resort.

      • You can more or less assume most flights will be delayed to a certain degree, but it's rarely more than an hour, so just factor it in.
I've had a couple of flight changes, no more than any other airline though. As for rebooking fees, that's part of the ticket conditions. You can pay an additional fee to get more flexible options for changes to your flight, but for these prices you basically can't change anything… it's about expectations.

Don’t ever fly on this worst airline…. Try once and you’ll regret it
Should have closed years ago. (profanity) this airline

    • +2

      Done once. Have to agree.

    • I have used thrma few tines 2x from.Melboirne to Manila and 1x Davo to Manila

Never an issue, certinaly no worse then Jetstar fir me

Seats don't recline on the internationak flights (which i like)

Check in is always a schmozzle but its an intirduction to Filipino culture in that respect :)

I flew it a few times before (few years before COVID) when exploring some of their islands. Im 6'1, It was tolerable as with any budget airline as long as got the twin seats up back, at least on the planes they used back then. Not sure if it changed. It's a budget airline, a means to an end, thats it.

  • I have flown on this airline to SYD last year and remember the terminal was packed in Manila and the plane seating was very very cramped back to Aus (im 5,10). Considering I had flown over on Scoot, its chalk n cheese. Go Scoot if your looking for a bargain IMOP - yes they stop at SIN/changi on the way but yes they go direct from SIN to Cebu, Davao, Angles so not longer if your going to another island in the chain over Manila.

    • I haven't flown Scoot for year becase i had to go through immigration, collect my luggae then rechek in on a through flight (eg Gold Coast to Bangkok via SIN) unless i paid extra. Is it still the case ?

  • Short flight is ok, but long flight is another story. Very cramped and im 5"9. The seat doesn't recline, this is budget of budget. You get what you paid for i guess.

    • Im 6'2" and love the seats not recling in Cebu. Its one of the bonuses for me.

  • Great deals for a very tolerable airline. It's cheap for a reason, so not expecting anything extraordinary and for approx 8 hours flight to Manila? It's more than adequate. 👍

    • +1

Yeah, use them only as a shuttle to the Philippines as that is where the value is.

The prices to other destinations are too close to what the cheapest Chinese airline offers and they give you Food and Baggage. No value in those other destinations as the current Manilla airport is awful and at least if you choose scoot, you get to transit at Changi which has top notch complimentary amenities.

I reviewed Cebu Pacific's flights to and from Melbourne to Manila on TikTok.

    Cheap, yes, worth it? Depends…

    • Hahaha thanks for sharing

    • +1

Hey mate, appreciate what you are trying to do.
For your future reviews you really should consider including more content on the plane and especially the seat itself, this is what is most important to people when it comes to airline reviews. Your first TikTok is like 90% not this. Just feedback is all :)

      • Cheers! Check out more recent ones, have taken that on board! (Started as more vloggy format, but has transitioned to more reviewy stuff)

Them dates are cheap for a reason. Thats thyphoon season. Be warned.

    • +1

      Thats thyphoon season.

Ah you beaut! Finally some excitement after the hohum just concluded election from across the pond.

    • you can get thyphus if you try swimming in the flood

      • Exciting…

Leptospirosis is another if one swim in flood waters.

  • Transit at Manila, what a hell hole of an airport

    • thats not a nice thing to say lol, are you expecting an airport transit like dubai or something?

its a 3rd world country - not sure what you are expecting.

maybe if you can afford, try to buy flights that dont go via manila and then you can whinge about that other airport

      • No where did I imply I'd book Cebu Pacific AND/OR transit at Manila

        • you didn't imply you booked with cebu but you are implying you did transit via manila? else how would you know its a hell hole of an airport with transit?

          • +1

@prankster: Are you ready for this?
I've been to PH three times for holidays and had to use their dreaded non aircon terminals to get to the islands (which are beautiful) :)

    • If you prepare for a bad time you won't be disappointed by Manila. We transfered from international to domestic, and it was fine.

  • Cebu pacific + travel between Jul-Sept = i DONT want that flight

  • +1

    Not flying with them again.

Flight was delayed for 2 hours then loaded into plane, after 20 or so minutes offloaded because plane had some problems (still). Eventually fixed after a few hours. This was for a domestic one hour flight

Seats were terrible for somebody who is 184cm tall. If recline is not working on your seat (I've had friends who had experience this) you're stuck with an unusual crouch position. Should be fine for short flights but I'd imagine this is really painful for longer flights.

Customer service is meh. I guess being budget, the crew are not paid well enough to be pleasant. Can't blame them if that's the case.

Yes it's cheap and may suit some but be aware.

Wow, comments here make it sound like hell. If you haven't flown them before, don't let it stop you, The Philippines can be a great place (or a terrible place) depending on your attitude and expectations.

Cebu Pacific are a budget airline, but nothing that will kill you. I've flown them more times than I can count and I'm 6'2 and a big guy…I survived just fine, 8 hours and it's all over.
The Manila terminal (3) is fine, I dunno what people are whining about, it's an airport ffs, not a resort. If you're there for a few hours you can drop your luggage at storage and go over the skybridge to wander around Pasay for a bit.

    • +1

its the unannounce cancellations of flight and not a single communication has been given to passengers. You cannot even call their main office.
I went 3x 11pm, 5am and 1pm to Melb airport and the airport people had to tell us that there is no flight for this Ceb airline or cancelled. Not a single Fcuk given to their passengerrs with kids and elderly people. so the hate is justified.

      • sorry to hear - perhaps its just bad luck you've had with cebu.

I've flown them multiple times and knock on wood no issues with them (yeah small seats but hey you paying for the cheap fair to get to philippines so i'm happy to sacrifice something short term for the cost savings)

      • +2

I've flown with them for 10 years, 3-4 times per year (except for covid), and have only had 1 flight cancellation which they notified me by email about (this was booked way in advance though, and the flight was still several months away when they cancelled), so I haven't had the same experience as you. Your experience would certainly make me upset with them.
I have found their notifications are a lot better now, especially if you provide them your mobile contact no during the booking.

I did contact their head office once, and it's basically a waste of time trying to get anything done… but you kinda get used to that with all Philippines businesses.

    • I wouldn't say getting your wallet stolen has anything to do with my attitude

  • +1

cebupacific uses airbus a330-900, which is very crowded and has narrow seats. this flight has no entertainment, no business class, no first class. just jam everyone in a tight, cramped space. the seats dont recline. its really a bargain for those who are on a budget. but if you love your back and legs, stay away. it would probably be ok for short flights (below 4 hours). long haul flights to manila would be horrible for your whole body.

    • luckily its not a direct flight from aus to europe/usa lol

    • I go Melbourne to Manika, I'm 186cm, 110kg and find it fine. I like the seats not reclining as that makes it more comfortable at my height.

  • Didn't mind my flight from Melbourne to Manila in September. Legroom is reasonable, and if you get a seat near the back (where it goes 2-3-2) you have the chance of no one sitting next to you. I had a D isle seat and had no-one in my row on the flight to Manila, and I had one in the F seat on the homeward leg, but he moved so had the row to myself.

Did a few domestic flights, as well an incredibly cheap flight to Hong Kong ($65 with seat, bags and a meal). Only problem was a exit row seat I had on Manila to Cebu - had the tray tables in the armrest, so with the narrow seats, I felt like my butt was in a milkcrate.
