Wahoo Kickr V6 Indoor Smart Trainer $1279 + ~$60 Delivery ($0 BNE C&C) @ Pushys

120

I'm not sure if i have seen the price for the v6 being lesser than this. The v6 is better than the "core" in many ways - the most noticeable being the wifi connectivity and the all important auto calibration (does not require a spin up/down like the core to calibrate).

The same is available in bikebug too.

If a 99bikes shop is close to you - have a check on availability and save the $60 on delivery (and hopefully they help with fixing the cassette as well).

i expect the jetblack victory to squeeze these prices once it becomes more widely available

Frankly, I think the Victory is going to eat this for lunch, and I'd be very surprised if Wahoo will be able to sell these for anything over $1000. The Victory has a similar feature set and a few potential advantages (Zwift Cog and Click - actually not an advantage for me as I don't use Zwift. But I can't use the bundled cassette of the Kickr either as I'm on 12 sp so it's a net even 🤷).

I'm a very happy owner of a Volt v2 which I copped for $570 new, absolute steal for the price and a great trainer. Similarly matches the Kickr Core on features while beating it on price. Would've grabbed a Victory instead if it was available at the time.

Why are you comparing the Kickr V6 to the Victory?

You should be comparing it to the Kickr Core instead. They have the exact same features of +/-2% power accuracy, max 1800W, max 16% incline.

The Kickr V6 is better with +/-1% power accuracy, max 2200W, max 20% incline.

I guess the other obvious thing to point out is that you can't buy the Victory… because it hasn't even been released yet! As an Ozbargainer, it's an obligation for me to say that it is dangerous to preorder anything.

Good point about pre-ordering. However, I'm not sure if I agree with you about not comparing the Kickr V6 to the Victory.

          • You're right, Kickr Core is very similar to Victory in terms of specs, and they're both about the same price ~$750-780. I think that JetBlack have designed the Victory to closely compete with the Core.
          • Yes, there is a spec difference between the Kickr V6 and Victory (accuracy, peak wattage and max incline).
            • The accuracy probably matters, but I'd argue the wattage and incline is only relevant to really strong riders. Most people wouldn't be approaching those upper limits.
            • However, I can't find any info on product listings or the JetBlack website regarding the unit's flywheel weight. That makes me suspect it might end up being less than the Kickr V6's 7.3 kg and closer to either the Kickr Core's 5.4 kg or maybe even the Volt V2's 4.7 kg. I suspect that'd make the biggest difference regarding ride feel.
          • The Victory is supposed to have a few other features the Core doesn't have, but the Kickr V6 does, USB C and WiFi. I think it will also inherit the Volt's ability to rebroadcast HR over Bluetooth. I've found that last feature to be very nifty to connect an ANT+ HR strap to my trainer software on my Volt.

For some people, the spec difference between the Kickr V6 and the Victory would matter, but I think for most they wouldn't. If you're considering a Kickr V6 over a Kickr Core either because of WiFi or USB C connectivity, I think the Victory is a good alternative to consider because the massive price difference.

This is why i love Ozbargain. Thanks mate! I'm new to the indoor trainer world and went by what gets pushed on google or youtube to decide on a product. I'm not into any ecosystem as far as cycling is concerned and hence picked up on your comment with great interest. The Victory will give a v6 equivalent feature set for the price of a core (being a casual rider who can ignore the 1% better accuracy and lesser power and/or incline). Only unknown is the ease of a swap to a 12 speed cassette if i do not want to lock myself into a zwift subscription.

The bigger unknown is the fact that its a first wave of the product and i might have to be the guinea pig if i take the dive. But its technically their 3rd iteration of a indoor trainer isn't it?

        Thanks for the feedback.

        • I don't use Zwift either, so I had the same problem as you. It was very clever of them to pair with manufacturers like Wahoo and Jetblack as they have effectively created a captive market from everyone who's too lazy to swap their cassette. Swapping a cassette requires a specialised tool, which I had at home as part of a tool kit so that wasn't a problem for me. Not sure if it'd be possible to do it without the tool but you might injure yourself (meant to be torqued down to 50 nm or something massive like that) or damage your cassette. If you buy a trainer from a decent brick-and-mortar bike shop with a workshop, I think you'd be able to get them to swap the cassette for you for free, It's a 2-minute job. My local 99Bikes have kindly done small jobs like this for free before.

I thought I'd mention that Decathlon have come out with their own smart trainer offering called the D100 It wasn't a good option for me because of the specs (+/-5% power accuracy, max 600W, max 6% incline, 3.2 kg flywheel, Bluetooth but no ANT+), but it might work for you. Currently listed for $449, I'd hope that would go down closer to $400 with sales.

    • Indeed, I'm planning on getting one before winter happens, assuming stock stabilises

I'm just a curious shopper who saw this and wanted to share. I've been trying to time my purchase and am still choosing between the core and the v6. I wish i was famous enough that wahoo would pay me

  • Still rocking my Kickr V2 from about 2017-ish, almost have the neon bike on Zwift!!! I keep wasting my riding time on an actual bike outdoors instead of leveling up on zwift!

I've got almost 24000 km on my Kickr V2 and was thinking about replacing it, but the shipping of $404.25 to WA kills this deal.

    • The kickr core is available on Amazon. Why don't you give that a try? The new core i'm sure is better than the v2 and its Amazon free shipping + change of mind returns applicable since it is sold and shipped by them

      • It's a want, not a need and a new one won't make me any faster so will probably wait until the current one dies. I can pick one up from 99Bikes for the same price locally anyway.

    • Same price at 99bikes, postage seems to be $59 aus wide (NT post code is that much at least..)

What does it mean by the ($0 BNE C&C) at the end of this thread title? :-)
