Return Shipping on Amazon

Hey, so my friend bought this bundle from Amazon, right?

He's keeping the watch and the buds already, but he wants to return the phone. The issue is, they're making him pay for the return shipping, which is like $60 within Sydney metro, including insurance. That's crazy!

Do you know any way around this?

Edit - sending whole bundle, the cost of postage is now over $100 within sydney metro.

    You've offered zero information here.

Was it bought from a third party seller? Do they abide by the amazon returns policy? Did you initiate the return through amazon or by contacting the seller directly? What is the product?

    • I think sending it through retailer, he is not member of amazon paid account so they can't help, a phone worth around $1500

clarify first on the questions asked - it does make a difference.

plus if its a bundle, usually the terms are everything is supposed to be returned?

It's like we need to do detective work before we can address the issue at hand…

          OP thinks we're mind-readers?

        • I think he didn't bargain very well
Only sending phone keeping watch & earbuds

          • +1

@will05: Because Watch and Earbuds have bundled discount? :)

          • +2

@will05: well is it phone + watch + ear buds = 1 BUNDLE price

or is it - phone standalone AND watch+ear bud bundle?

If its the latter…why is it an important part of the question at hand?
            if its the former ….wtf?

            • -3

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Certainly, I can assist you with that. Let's review the question regarding the shipping and associated costs once more.

          • +1

@will05: Sounds like he cannot read based on the answers to the questions, so maybe cut the loss and move on.

      • What does this mean? Did he buy it from a retailer or Amazon or from a third party reseller on the Amazon platform?

    That's crazy!

    Why?

    • Yeah it is

If you are returning the item, you are no longer a customer. In Australia, thers is no change of mind policy, you are lucky that the vendor accept the return. Alternatively, some vendors have 20 - 30 % re-stocking fee which most likely will cost you more than $60. You can definitely send it without insurance but you will be responsible for lost or damages (just don't cry when the item is lost or damaged).

You're right, but he's keeping the watch and the buds and only returning the phone🤯. He says the phone isn't user-friendly, and I think he didn't bargain well with the retailer.
That's why I was wondering if anyone has come across unique situations like this.🤔, tnx

…i dont get it, the way you've written your OP it sounded like the 3 items all came from amazon…

@will05: It's either Android / Apple, unless he is moving back to Candy Bar phone, I don't think it is a good excuse for return. I assumed he also 'tried' out the phone already. If they are not charging a re-stocking fee, they are being super nice to you and they won't be able to re-sell the item as NEW. If I am the seller, I definitely don't want 'your friend" as customer.

@bobokingdom: I respectfully request that you refrain from making comments that include a change of mind policy, as I do not find them relevant to the discussion.

              • @will05: People can voice their opinion/s here. If you do not find it relevant to the discussion, then you could, for a start, provide more detailed information about your purchase, instead of asking people to stop commenting.

They are trying to help but it is difficult to do so without adequate information.

Hey, so my friend bought this bundle from Amazon, right?

Select anything but change of mind for the reason.

  • So where (which country) is your "friend" sending the phone/bundle from?

    • Sydney local

  • +8

OP, do you understand how questions and answers work?

  • It's like @will05 are being coy, maybe they are trying to work out some scam involving keeping accessories when returning a phone.

All the information I can find here is some phone costing $1,500 which may or may not have been bundled with ear phones and a watch. Soo.. likely Apple or Samsung, but they said it wasn't user friendly so maybe they changed of brand of phone, Apple to Samsung or Apple to any other android phone.

The $60 - $100 return cost is likely high due to insurance. $1,500 new phones (I assume) are very easy to thieve enroute. The return cost could also be a mild deterrent.

It's an easy fix. Return the lot, eat the cost of your error or keep it and learn how to use this new phone. A few minor tweaks make a huge difference to daily phone usage.

Nah mate, just to correct you on the scam part, there ain't none! 🤯 My friend wanted to send his phone back, and he was cool with keeping the watch and the buds. It's a OnePlus phone bundle, but there were some issues. The phones he got was the CN version instead of global, and it didn't come with a charger too🤦‍♂️

To wrap things up, we sorted it out with Amazon returning everything. Although he had to get their Prime membership at full price, and they're going to take care of everything.
