nbn 1000/50 available in limited areas in NSW. Enter your address to see eligibility.

Was doing my due-diligence to see what my options are, as my 6 months are almost up - and it's still a competitive new customer offer, and cheap ongoing pricing!

For comparison, Leaptel is $119/month after the first 12, Superloop is $99/month after the first 6.

  • Weird that it says NBN is available in my property where, in fact, I have Opticomm.

    • Also on Opticomm, Spintel says my max speed is 250Mpbs but all the other ISP offer me 1000

Just as an FYI from my notes on Spintel:

    Spintel:
    - Billing period is 1st until last day of the month. Services are paid for in advance.
    - Must cancel in advance to avoid next billing cycle.
    - No PRO RATA REFUND.
    - Customer service is quite poor, always on hold and callbacks often do not happen.

    • Good info, thanks. With the service paid in advance, how far in advance? If you cancel the day before it should be fine?

      • Paid one month in advance.

Yeah my wording is a bit bad but yes you can do it a day before it it renews, but note the customer service line is either really understaffed or they are just constantly hammered with calls, so it may be difficult to get in touch with them.

There is a chat function but I haven't personally tried, and have a sneaking suspicion they're gonna want to "speak" with the account owner for verification purposes.

    • I’ve had the complete opposite for customer service, (im located in Melbourne)

When I switched ISP to Spintel I had issues with my NBN black box, they contacted NBN and got a new one sent to me free of charge, followed up with helping me set it up and asked a couple of days after setup to make sure everything was still going smoothly.

A great start up experience, I haven’t needed to reach out to them since.

Maybe it’s a Your Mileage May Vary situation.

      • In my case, I had scheduled cancellation one day BEFORE the next billing period, but I still got billed for a full month. Obviously this isn't right so within minutes of seeing the money taken out of my account, I called them up (9:30 in the morning) and was on hold for over 30 minutes. I finally gave up and went the callback option but never received one back.

Tried again next day and was on hold for over 60 minutes this time, before I opted for callback option. Again no call back. Had to do a chargeback from the bank to get my money back because I literally could not get in touch with any humans representing Spintel.

    • This is super helpful thanks…not as bad as Superloop by the sounds of it. They don't even have a call back function…have been emailing them and they have been really quick and helpful so that's good.

Please note if you had an account for your address before with Spintel, you won't consider a new customer now. Happened to me.
But I'm not sure if you will use different email address to create a new account, will be consider as a new customer, better check with Spintel.

Happened to me with different email. Aholes only notify you after you've already churned so they get a month out of me at an increased rate from what I signed up for. Pretty dodgy if you ask me.

Got the email saying that is doesn't apply the day I was provisioned. Goodbye Spintel, I will never use you again.

      K Thanx Bye

  • They seem to charge $5 a month extra to opt out of cgnat?

  • Hi guys, what equipment (AP/Router) would you guys use to utilize the 1000/50 speed? and hows the performance?

    • No router can do 1Gbps I believe (happy to be proven wrong because I'm on the lookout for one as well). I have an old Orbi AC3000 (with one satellite) from 2017-2018 and it can still push 600 Mbps around my home. Equivalent spec setup today should be $200-$400 depending on how large of a mesh network you want.

      • I'm using GL inet Flint 2 which is pushing 800/48.

    • The ubiquiti ucg ultra can do it for around $180. Keep in mind, you'll also either need to buy an AP or use your existing router behind the ucg ultra as just an AP.

  • Just FYI 1000/50 is only for NSW Residents

  • Although not part of this offer, if you have an ABN, their business plans are well priced which include static ip as standard https://www.spintel.net.au/small-business/nbn

  • My God, what lousy "service"!!
I'm with Tangerine where my 250/20 FTTP has just come off the installation discount, now costing me ~$5.00 more per week (peanuts really, but then again…)
So, I use the Spintel chat which is firstly bot then a so-called "Sales Representative - Cebu City, Philippines". This one was "Chloe". She asked what I wanted @ 3.14am (WST) I told her that Spintel's system told me my address could be offered FTTN but I had been connected to FTTP 250/20 now for 6 months, could she enquire? She said she would check with her systems - and at 3.50am (WST) I was still waiting for her to return. I've screenshot it all with times etc.

I waited for a sales rep, some considerable time - his excuse for the above and his own response delay was they are extremely busy today. We cut through that and I asked him about porting both my FTTP and voip and he confirmed that if the port takes place before the end of the month, because they bill in advance policy is to keep the unused portion of the month of the porting. Also, porting the voip (at least they will provide the sip, u/name & pw, sip register addy, port# etc for my setup) will take up to 10 days and the entire shebang can't be connected until the voip has been ported (need landline for remnants of a small pre-retirement business). Such uncertainty will cost me plenty plus the terrible customer service means a no-go for me, which is a shame because 250/20 is quite competitive even without the 6 month discount.

  • Is it still a Sydney only POP?

Historically it was, so every other state had notable ping added.
Hosting a game with 3 local mates; everyone was about 23ms, with the SpinTel user at 100ms -/+15ms.

  • Customer and Tech Support are pretty good for me. They offered $10 off when I told them about their new customer offer…

  • Last time I had NBN with Spintel, they disconnected the service 2 weeks early from the disconnection date. So I contacted them and they reconnected the next day. A couple of days later, they sent me a bill for the reconnection. So I called them about their mistake and they told me it would take about a week to sort out. Even though it was clearly their fault, I thought they would still try to charge me, so I got my bank to stop auto payments.

  • Is Spintel throttling? Exetel just started throttling Apple downloads (updates, apps). 50Mbps. When I turn my VPN on the download speed jumps to 550Mbps. Looking for a new provider.

This SpinTel link is $1 or $2 dollars cheaper on a couple of plans.

    https://www.spintel.net.au/lp/home/nbn-wo

    $47 per month for their 25Mbps / 8Mbps offer
    $65 per month for their 100Mbps / 18Mbps offer
    $78 per month for their 250Mbps / 22Mbps offer
    $95 per month for their 650Mbps / 42Mbps offer

I’ve been with Aussie Broadband, Flip, Mate & SpinTel and have found no difference with the speed or quality of NBN, just price & service. I change providers typically every 6 months depending on the promotion & signup with whoever has the cheapest 25Mbps plan.

Their international routes and bandwidth on their business plans are a joke .

  • When transferring can I cancel my current service on one day, then ask for activation at Spintel to be the same day and should have no issues?

First time doing it on NBN FTTP…

  • I don't know how they define new customer. I was with them 6 months ago and was not considered as new customer I signed up again recently. I didn't realise until I was connected and had to pay the normal charge. This should be upfront before connection. Moreover, I requested connection in 1 week but was connected at once. That is wasting my money.

  • Happy to confirm the switch from Superloop to Spintel was seamless. Just had to switch the port to #2 on the NBN box and I was connected.
