Price and Reviews on DeLonghi Primadonna Coffee Machine

Hi all, I am not a coffee drinker so am an amateur with this, I am looking at the Delonghi Primadonna coffee machine for my wife, it barely seems to go on sale but hoping upcoming Nov sales it will reduce a little. I currently do her stove top coffee and milk frother.

Anyone have one or experience with them? She mainly drinks lattes.

Thanks all

  • Purchased one about 6 months ago.
Opened the box and found coffee grounds all through the machine.
Called JB said it’s used. They sent me a second unit same thing, coffee everywhere though the machine.
“Apparently” that’s normal. They “test” them before sending out.
I could be wrong, but I have never heard of brand new arriving “used”.

My main concern was paying retail price and potentially receiving a refurbished unit.

I was told over and over it’s normal. So, cautiously I went ahead.

Have not had any issues so far, really enjoying it.

If you end up purchasing one, please let me know if you see grounds through the machine.
You need to look down all the chutes to see it.
Otherwise the machine was new. It’s only when I inspected it looking down all the entry points (ohhh yeah) is when I noticed it.

    • It's true. They arrive with coffee grounds. It's also says that in the manual.

    • “Apparently” that’s normal. They “test” them before sending out.

That's 100% accurate and any good coffee machine will do this.

They probably also had a note in the manual you didn't read that said this.

      • Good to know, thanks for the update :)

Oh, one issue: Milk frother doesn't froth anymore.
I've cleaned everything, it just spits out warm milk now, no froth.

        • Faulty milk frother. Get it replaced.
Regarding coffee in the machine. It’s normal and is mentioned in the manual.

  • Yeah I have one. A lot of ozbargain has one too lol.

There was an infamous corporate 40% off code that did the rounds. Someone also found you could stack 40% off 40% off.

Overall it’s a great machine. It’s super easy, cleaning is simple.

I’ve found issues trying to use ground coffee. It never seemed to work.

    • it’s a great machine

      and

      🤔

      • No issues using ground coffee.
You just need to press that button first before dropping it in.
        Have no complaints.

    • I got one during that deal too. Have been pretty much making 2 - 4 coffees a day since. Hasn't had any issues. Usually use Airjo beans in it.
I did read that some people said the milk wasn't hot enough, but for me the milk is plenty hot.

      • You said the coffee machine is for your wife though, so if she doesn't make the coffee, you don't really need it.

        • Huh?
          I said that?
Did you mean to reply to me jv?
          You might need a coffee.

  • I have an older model it is still going strong years later.

    • I have an older model

What age is she? and do you make her coffee?

      • +1

About 6 years. I feed her fresh coffee beans, water and milk and occasionally give her a warm bath when she requests it.The wife likes me to use her to make her a coffee.

  • I am not a coffee drinker
I currently do her stove top coffee and milk frother.

Why can't she make her own coffee ?

    • I usually just do it when im up early and sorting kids breakfast etc plus i wfh so i dont need to worry about getting ready for office work etc so it works out well.

    I am not a coffee drinker so…

So you want to spend $2000 on a coffee machine?

  • I have the slimline model, still going strong. Done 11890 cups

  • I'm curious how you came to this conclusion to buy this coffee machine?

Did she ask for this one specifically?

    • Yes, she had heard good things about it, and i researched everything before i buy items and there are usually some great info and personal experiences on here

We have one for about 3 years and extremely happy with it. Bought it from TGG Commercial for around 1600. Well worth every dollar spent on it. But if you’ll get with 20-40% discount that’ll be even better. I’d agree with HerpinDerp as I didn’t like ground coffee in comparison with the Moka Pot.
