      Same for Aperol free drink?

    • +3

Don't give fake email as barcode is sent to email. I wasted one mobile number.

      • Use anonymizer service like duck or simplelogin

        • Any link to it?

      • not even gmail +alias ?

        • I didn't use Gmail.

        • I used an alias and never ended up receiving the barcode at all 😑
Edit: Although I did just read some more recent comments from other people not receiving any emails either, so perhaps it's just the promo website on the blink

    • +3

you guys right here are the real professionals…for a single can of boozy lolly water?

      • +2

        saved $9.20 , yes

        • +5

you were actually going to exchange $9.20 for a single can of rtd alcopops?

          • +4

@QuickToThePointless: Exactly, no one on their right mind would pay that much. Better off getting a 10 pack 196 $45 DM.

          • @QuickToThePointless: Does allow you to try a peach/pineapple flavour without committing to many more cans and $

        • Imo overpriced. Who is going to buy this @9.20

          • @neonlight: No one is. The price per single can of anything isn't economic, buy in bulk (10 pack) or wait for specials for $4.

      • multiple if you have multiple phone numbers you can gain access to :P

  • +5

Looks like im trying both barcodes tomorrow at BWS lol

  • Thanks OP thanks BWS.

BWS being un-stingy, unlike you know who who’s making billions in profit every quarter…

    • Elon Musk?

    • +1

Btw, it’s not that BWS aren’t stingy.
They just have to spend more on marketing to help gain some market share. They are minnows in their industry.

Commonwealth on the other hand pretty much owns the market and doesn’t need to waste a single cent on luring new customers. They don’t care..

      • Yes indeed they are the largest bank hence in situations like this, this is where govts come in. The govt already came after supermarkets.

There’s also an unrelated banking petition (sponsored by a politician) going around right now for all banks, not CBA specific tho (which is a shame because Westpac/BoM/BSA/StG is doing a decent job in giving back with deals).

        • I agree, our representatives should be doing more to challenge these monopolies.

Having said that, i only made the point that you thinking one big company is better than the other big company because they are giving out a marketing freebie isn’t completely accurate.

          • -2

@Gervais fanboy: Whether or not it’s for marketing isn’t relevant because if CBA were to give out deals, it would likely also be for some form of marketing for them.

My thesis is the billions CBA is making in consecutive quarters but have little to show for in proportion to what others are doing here. I would think BWS isn’t making this same order of magnitude in profits.

      • BWS is part of Endeavour Group, one of the largest alcohol retailers in Aus…

        • +1

In addition, banking is slightly different from retail. Currently bank deposits are still being guaranteed by the govt (ie. by us tax payers) which means the bank gets to borrow money at lower interest rates leading to making more profits.

Retail like Endeavour Group doesn’t have this opportunity.

    • +5

You do realise that it’s most likely the supplier funding this campaign… no way a retailer will eat their margins to promote anything unless it’s their own in-house brand.

Should be thanking Lion/Kirin for spending their budget on this rather than catalogues or ads

      • Yes I agree the supplier is likely also funding this in collaboration with BWS. In order to pull off a collaboration like this, associated costs also incurs on BWS, such as storage or shelve fees etc.

Similar to how Shopback is in collaboration with Westpac/StG/BoM/BSA.

is the pineapple any good? peach was terrible i thought.

    • +1

Yes pineapple was da bomb. Just picked up and smacked one down with dinner. Very refreshing

      • +5

        BargainSmacker

    • +1

No pineapple is gross. Get lemon or peach.

    • much prefer lemon, doesn't taste as artificial

      • at first it tasted a little bit like the smell of urinal cakes. after awhile i found i could get around this by drinking it more with the back of my tongue.

maybe the lychee variety presumably with its stronger taste would be better but it's not stocked at bws.

  • -6

Just realised it's a can, not a 6 pack. Doh!

  • +3

Dont think I received the barcode….. patiently waiting now.

    • Same, but sometimes these things get sent out in batches

      • Just received!

        • Same. Good times

  • So - assuming they haven't loaded 40,000 barcodes into BWS POS system, I guess it's the same barcode for all?
    9898460873086xxx ?

    • +3

The two barcodes I've seen are visibly different

    • +1

You guys got a barcode with numbers? Mines just a barcode :S

      • same

        • I used an app to read the barcode, it shows numbers in the app

          • @leeroys_dad: How's the barcode generator? Managed to claim many?

        • +1

          Data harvesting lol

          • @pennypincher98: It also makes it more difficult for individuals to claim more than one can

  • +1

    Love me some free Hyoketsu!

  • +1
  • +2

Gone are the days where they give you a 4 pack for free..

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/809682

  • I thought alcohol can't be offered for free.

    • NT seems to be, other states can have promotions within some limits

  • +1

Anybody else seeing the line "You have unlocked a Kirin Hyoketsu can. Your complimentary can is just a" and the thing you click on is obscured by the FAQs etc?

    • Same here, don't know how others got theirs through…… >.<

      • +3

I had the same issue on mobile but I changed to "Desktop site" in Chrome and it fixed the problem.

        • I can't get it to work at all. And I tried the Aperol Spritz comp too :(

  • Free alcohol!

  • Just picked up my Kirin and Spritz in WA. pineapple Kirin was quite good.

    • Is it any flavour?

      • Yep

  • Cheers OP got a couple

  • +3

I don't buy at bottle shops
but when I do, I don't pay for drinks at BWS

  • +2

It's a shame they don't use the crinkled cans here.

  • Thanks. Got two cans!

  • OP you are the greatest! MVP right here!

  • -6

SCAMMERS ‼️ didn’t receive any email.

  • Is anyone else having issues? I can scan the QR code, put in my birthdate, get the "Hello Yes!" that I've unlocked my can, but then nothing. It tells me my complimentary can is a few clicks away, but there's nothing to click on. Tried with a couple of different browsers and tried multiple times.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    • +3

The UI is not entirely mobile friendly.
Underneath that message I saw the top part of a button and clicked that

      • Thanks. I kept repeatedly hitting that area until it finally noticed me and I could click through!

  • +1

We've sent a redemption barcode to the email address you provided.
