Hey i am looking for something like this, i have a house in kalgoorlie and our power outages in summer are soul destroying, can you find these in australia?

  • Never heard of them, can they do 230v?

    • They can do 230v at about 40a constant. If you were running a football stadium, you might have one of these. :D

    • they do 3phase and all these options people keep saying arnt that helpful some offer links to things that could power half a city, but they have never been in kalgoorlie with no power for a week

What's so special about it? Just looks like a diesel generator. Buy one of the million diesel generators available for sale.

    • why when i know about the quality and there are millions of others that are not good quality or are single piston

      • Just don't buy one that's single cylinder, it's not hard. If you know this is a quality unit, surely you've seen one and know someone who has one, why not ask them where they got it from? Or is this something you've seen on Reddit or similar?

Edit - looks like it's just an Onan unit, I work on plenty of those, they are generally easy to configure for 120/240v. Still much easier to get something already here.

        • i think its the $6000 vs the $15000 yeah i will just get a ex nato one sent over

  • Couldn't you get solar panels and battery backup? Lots of sun in Kal…

i have solar but that when there is a back out the solar doesnt work as they need the grid to be on, besides a genset like this could power 3 houses, and no rebates for batteries in WA

That's a lot of power. Just how big is your underground hydroponics setup?

    • well for me to ship over a 803a is only a extra 300$ vs a 802a

hey just get a solar system for your house (no battery)

Choose an inverter that is SMA brand, it'll cost a little more, but it has SPS. Emergency power source. Effectively you have a standard power output that works when the grid is down, max 3000 watts. Thats enough to run a fridge and small air con, whilst the power is out.

He'd need some kind of quantum folding machine or something, like theorised by the guy who wrote Netflix's Three Body Problem. To fit the solar system inside of his own house.

    • thanks, i know your experience in western australia is amazing but i already have solar and when the power goes out i need more than a small air con, and a fridge, as we have a chest freezer and 2 fridges and if working night shift i need to be able to sleep in less than 50 degs rooms

  • Jesus (fropanity) Christ, what are you planning to run off this? Is it the 13kVa generator? That’s about 10kW. What are you drawing down 10kW with?

10,000W / 240V = 40ish amps worth of load. You charging your EV or something? You have a massive AC system? Just seems like overkill for a few blackouts to run a house.

For example, my house has a 7kW solar system that averages about 5~6kW at full steam, and that’s almost double what I need to run my house, including running the AC at full wack.

Anyway, here you go and they are 18% off for November. Bargain at that price.

The other thing to consider if you are only looking to get past “blackouts” is to look into something like “zinc bromine flow batteries”. They are often used in situations like yours, to flatten out power supply and to cover for those repeated brown and black out prone areas.

    • so the battery has enough to run 4 split systems for 9 days? just checking, and that blue diamond one is physically bigger….

      • You're doing wrong, being in Kalgoorlie I bet you never run out of sunlight, 30kwh of battery and a 10kva victron multiplus will get you out of trouble most of the time. Investing a bit more and go up to the 60 kwh mark you can pretty much get rid of the grid altogether if you're already willing to fork out for a $10000 generator.

        • i had prices it at $6000

i dont see any 30kwh systems selling for that in WA,
