Cleaning Liquid for Robotic Vacuum?

I was wondering if OzBs have a favourite cleaning liquid for the mopping function on their Roborocks or other similar Robovacs?

We used to have a floor cleaning liquid in our bucket when we mopped manually but since getting a Roborock, we have left the mopping to our trusted sidekick; however we feel there is a need for some cleaning agent with the mopping water. We are scared of using just any cleaning agent.

Given the popularity of some recent Robovac deals with mopping (such as the Qrevo MaxV), I wanted to get OzB views on this topic and any favourite go-to products.

Water with a splash of vinegar or eucalyptus oil

    • How many splashes to a gallon?

        Just a touch

    • I was actually quite interested in using vinegar as well but not sure if it's corrosive. Do people here have experience using it in the Roborocks?

I wouldn't use vinegar because its corrosive

    • Don't use vinegar, it's likely to react with the rubber pipes within the robot.

  • I haven't used it myself, but I've wondered whether Optimum No Rinse would work. Just wouldn't be anti-bacterial

    Mine's manual says water only

This stuff is good, and though not listed on their website, my local store sells 2.5L bottles as well.

You can also refer to this for a comparison of various cleaning fluids. Note that if you have pets, you need to make sure the amount of tea tree oil in the solution is at a safe level as it's poisonous to cats/dogs.

  • I looked into this a while again. I haven't tried the product. Roborock recommends the Omo Floor Cleaner Fluid 480ml

Most of the brands recommend water- careful you don't void your warranty or corrode the internal parts

    • thats what im using and im going through it faster then expected! Tip - JB will price match I think I got it for $30 but still feel cheated :)

I used the bissel cleaner from the TGG for $13 in my roborock Q Revo as it was recommended by other roborock owners on reddit pages.

The OMO liquid is expensive and also contains tea tree oil which is toxic for dogs. So pet owners may wish to avoid it.

The bissel solution when you read the label is a low foaming solution safe for robots and many users have been using it for years with no troubles.

  • Any ph neutral multi purpose cleaning liquid will do. No need to go for brand specific. They are all the same, some surfactant, colouring and some scent.

I've been using a splash of vinegar and a drop of eucalyptus oil for over 4 years in my roborock. All good, cleans well.
However the water tank has yellowed over time but it doesn't affect functionality whatsoever.. not sure if there is a correlation, probs, but replacement tanks are available. Also house is so clean and smells great worth it imo!!

I've been using Ajax floor cleaner (https://www.colgatepalmolive.com.au/brands/ajax/ajax-floor-c…) for over a year without an issue and it's $4 for a 750ml bottle and lasts for months. It assists getting more stubborn stains off the tiles, better at removing various oils and also emits a lovely citrus scent. I've also checked the robot & dock plumbing and there's no issue.

I make up 5L bottles (old demineralised water bottles from Bunnings) of a premix by mixing 1/3 cup of the floor cleaner and water.

  • Stick with water only or you'll have problems with blockages and dead seals
