I need a cheap place to get HTC 1 X phone fixed - son dropped it..

I wonder if anyone knows a cheap place to take or send my HTC 1 X phone to get fixed, my son dropped it and the screen has lifted off, screen is not broken, just lifting off and the phone will not turn on. If you can help I would be grateful, thanks

  • Hey, I dropped my One x as well and the repair costs about $175 to repair the screen which was shattered. Though I have no idea if the fix would be the same for your problem, I went to a Vodafone store at fairfield (I'm on virgin, they don't care).

Though heads up the repair costs for the one x are really expensive most stores wanted $250.

    • The one next to fairfield forum ahah

What do you mean by screen has lifted off? You can push it back in if the housing fell off. If the screen is broken, you'll have to get it repaired. If it's the housing that's broken, you can buy a housing on eBay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Battery-Back-Door-Cover-Housing-R…
    And then follow these instructions:
Take the back off the phone
Use this as a starter. (remember to remove your sim first)

Secondly, once its off, be careful not to lose any powerbutton or volume rocker from the old housing they may come loose and drop out. Hold onto them for future use. A little bit of sticky tape on them helps.

In the inside of the new housing remove the blue tape as this is the new adhesive required to stick the phone down. Leave the sticky tape on the outside of the housing as this will hold the power button and volume rocker in place.

The trickiest part is actually getting a small pin and in the old housing, where the speaker is put it in the back and lever out the old speaker. Take note of how it looks and the angle as once you have removed it from the old housing you need to drop it into the new housing in the same place. It's not difficult more just making sure you are aware of it.

So once the speaker is in the new housing and the blue tape on the inside where the adhesive sits is removed, its simply a case of sliding the phones insides into the new housing starting with sliding the top in first. Then carefully pry it in and it should snap into place.

Don't worry if your phone turns on whilst doing this. It's simply because the powerbutton is held down with the sticky tape. So once housing is inside, take off the exterior tape holding the buttons in place.

    And then you're done :D.

  • Great instructions, but wow, it sounds hard, I will take it to a phone store and see what they say, have just spoken to my home insurance and they have just changed my policy mid year (typical) my excess has always been $100 but now for phones or computers laptops ect it is a $250 excess. So if I can not get it for cheaper than $250 I will get the insurance to cover it. thanks

    • It's actually not too hard, but I don't understand completely what the problem is so I don't even know if that's the correct solution or not :(, good luck though.

    • OP you should post a pic of the damage :)

  • I dunno about the phone, but the OTs at work swear some basket weaving therapy will do wonders for little butterfingers' fine motor skills…end result: less dropped phones! ;)
