I recently got LG gram 17, installed steam to download a few games like dead space 2, which was a really old game, I got asphalt 9 to run but dead space won't run?
I Downloaded lighter games for 3gb like 2D games but gives me black screen of death, it tells me to press alt shift to start and been stuck with this. Could it the resolution setting to high? How do I change it to run then? Why are games all need to be loaded via steam, quit trouble some, I feel like that could be main cause.

This game is very old, so it requires some tweaks to run on modern systems. Including some control fixes relating to negative mouse acceleration
As for other games you may need to run them in compatibility mode with Windows 7 or 10.
My laptop should be sufficient enough to run such old game right?
The issue with very old games like Dead Space 1/2 is the compatibility — they were not optimised for Intel Core Ultra CPU's.
Dead space 2 is more than 10 years old already… few more years and it can start drinking beer. Time sure flies by…
FWIW dead space has known performance issues. I couldn't run it properly on a 4080
