Nongshim Shin Ramyun, Kimchi Noodles or Samyang Ramen Spicy 5 Pack $5 @ Woolworths

680

Nong Shim Shin Ramyun 5 Pack - Very spicy but great (consider half a pack of seasoning to begin)

Nong Shim Kim Chi Noodles 5 Pack - Amazing.

Samyang Ramen Spicy 5 Pack - Tastes like the Kimchi ones above but slightly different noodle thickness / texture. Says spicy for product name but pack says mild. Mild ones are not spicy. And pack looks like tide dishwashing powder.

I make these dry so use about 250ml-270ml water (a cup) and tastes much better than with soup IMO

Nong Shim Shin Ramyun 5 Pack(woolworths.com.au) - Very spicy but great (consider half a pack of seasoning to begin)

I don't know why Uncle Roger came to mind after reading this. "Why so weak? So weak?" /s

110% of your daily sodium in one meal if you drink the soup, definitely worth using half the packet (and using the other half with those $3/kg straight egg noodles from coles)

Or you can free the soup instead, better life for both

    • AYYAAHH.. WEHH YOHH WHOK??

    • Too spicy for me too! The kimchi flavour version is less spicy so I like it better as well, either this or Jin Ramen.

I find one packet is too spicy and not enough to fill me up so I usually add half or one instant noodle cake with it (ie those fantastic instant noodle packs that come in a pack of 10). I find this balances out the spice levels well. Add in some frozen fish balls, an egg, tofu and greens (bok Choy or lettuce) and that’s one simple go to meal when I ceebs cooking or going to the shops.

    • Stirring in half a tablespoon of sugar before adding a whisked egg really enhances the end product too.

1 pack, 3 or 4 eggs and some ham or chicken is my go to easy after work meal.

    • Raw egg, cracked into the hot noodle / broth?
Or boiled eggs, thrown in afterwards. Just interested

  • Op what do u mean , you "make dry but use 250 270ml water" ?

    • +1

Using less water means that it is mostly absorbed/boiled off by the time the noodles are ready so you have 'dry' noodles just coated in a spicy sauce rather than 'wet' noodles sitting in soup.

      • Thanks man! Very smart idea.

My bad didn't think of the evaporation

    • Use about a cup of water instead of the recommended, as @wavesgreen said, basically no soup once cooked, much better flavour!

      • Thanks man!

  • I tried the Nongshim Shin Ramyun Red Super Spicy noodles.
Loved the taste, texture of the noodles and just the right amount of heat.
(Were not too hot for me- but I do eat very spicy food including CR and Habenaros).
First had it with the broth, but then preferred with less water to give a more intense flavour.

How does Nongshim Shin Ramyun compare in terms of flavour and spiciness? Packaging looks a bit different too.
    Thanks!

The other two have much less spice and feel a bit more flavourful / are different. Worth trying a pack to see if you like it tbh.. bit hard to explain lol

  • OOS at the store I went to today :(

    • They can be a PITA, they leave the normal spot empty and have to walk around to find the end cap where all the stock is.. (if it says in stock that is)

      • Tried to look for a staff to have an ask but everyone seemed busy at the time. I left. Gonna try another store tomorrow.

      • Can also be a POTA

  • Tried the kimchi variety last time as the spicy was OOS, for me it's not as nice as the OG.
