PSA for dishwashing tablet brand snobs - there's practically zero difference between any brand/type, so just buy whatever's cheapest.

Fairy leave a pretty strong smell / chemical smell for me.

      • same I have stopped using it. finish 0% one seems good to me at half price from Coles

        • I went to aldi tablets but they only work ok if i take the plastic off before putting the tablet in

          • @gsxr600rr: What? The plastic dissolves, you shouldn't be removing it.

Has anyone used those dishwashing sheets that only show you on FB advertisements? How are those compared with these tabs?

I opened my dishwasher 10 minutes into the washing cycle trying to put a couple more things in, what surprised me was that, even the tab (Finish Ultimate) was only half dissolved but everything was so slippery and when I tried to wash it off my hand I kinda have to scrub a bit to get rid of the slippery feeling, which actually concerned me.

They are dog shite in my opinion. Its just flattened powder into a sheet. Plus they are bloody expensive compared to $4 per kg of powder.

They market it is as a "green" alternative whatever that means

    • I kinda have to scrub a bit to get rid of the slippery feeling, which actually concerned me.

why would that concern you? how do you think they get rid of all the stuff off your dishes?

when I tried to wash it off my hand I kinda have to scrub a bit to get rid of the slippery feeling, which actually concerned me

Easiest way to deal with that would have been to climb into the dishwasher for the remainder of the cycle

meh Aldi tablets are still around and half that price for the same clean.

    • Unpopular opinion. Woolworths shine tablets are cheaper than Aldi again, with no complaints.
Added benefit of not being hit with a bullshit card fee when paying at Aldi.

      • I thought Aldi had a card fee

        • Thats literally what I said lol

yeah the old 18-in1 shine pods were brilliant.

        • Don't know why they had to change the formula and ruin a good thing. The salt on the wound is the price jack along with a worse performing product.

Is there anyone on Ozbargain that hasn't seen these Technology Connections video on dishwasher pods/tablets yet?

This is the choice list for powders in case anybody converts: https://i.imgur.com/dRlxHwU.png
I saw these vids a while ago, got the cheap stuff from woolies, works fine.
It's a whole process though, I understand why people would take the convenience of the pods. How hard is your water, what cycles does your machine do, how much rinse aid, etc etc

I have a Miele dishwasher with AutoDos, I refill the powerdisks myself using Aldi Logix powder, works just as well as the powerdisks Miele sell for around $15 each.

My machine has a separate salt and rinse aid reservoir so that's something that would have to be filled anyway even using pods.

    • Whoa this deserves its own post.
Thanks, this is a good deal

      • Sold out. Wondering how much it was?

    • update: I was only sent 7 x 44piece packs, but Catch issued a refund

  • Thanks OP. We used to use Fairy for years with good results but switched some time ago to Finish tablets which were competitively priced due to Amazon S&S discounts, etc. However, we've had really mixed results with them e.g. food left on dishes even after pre-rinsing and needing to leave large gaps between plates, etc. So after watching a few videos similar to those posted above, we're probably going to try Aldi or Colesworth powder. I also heard that many of the brands went phosphate free a few years back, which is better for the environment but worse for performance. Anyone else had similar experience?
