Recent japanese whiskies have become less unique due to the manufacturers cashing in on the boom, and lax laws for the definition of a "japanese" whiskey, that rule has recently changed

You wouldn't drink this straight, so if you are mixing with a sweet mixer, will you be able to tell the difference between this or the cheapest bottle at Dan Murphys?

      You wouldn't drink this straight

      Why not?

Given the age It's unlikely to be very smooth but still fair question has anyone tried this?

    • how about with soda and ice?

F**k it, for that price I'll try it.

      THIS IS OZBARGAIN !

  • Good as a highball?

  • White oak is average as a cask type but shin is a decent distillery (at least for its mizunara cask series) so overall worth a try.

      so overall worth a try.

Shin will give you a bit of a kick

  • You'd be offered to get CHIYOMUSUBI CRAFT MIZUNARA PURE MALT (700ML) for $90 which seems an expensive one elsewhere

Pass. Sign up coupon doesn't apply to item. Shipping to Sydney Metro is 11 bucks so 110 for 3 bottles. Note they are 500ml, which equates to 46 bucks at 700ml.

That's close to big brand known whiskey. I would prefer not to take the chance.

  • This whiskey is made in Japan with local and overseas ingredients! Need to try it to appreciate its quality, can't go wrong with this price.

  • This works out at $66 a litre (plus shipping).

I think I'll stick to a litre of JB white label 40% for around the same price (or cheaper).
At least I know what the after-taste and hangovers are like with JB.

  • IDK. This is risky, only matured 2 years.
Just because it's Japanese dont mean its gonna be good.
Its lije We're being sold their left overs.

  • These are $59 each at First Choice (https://www.firstchoiceliquor.com.au/spirits/the-shin-classi…) which means this is $28 cheaper plus postage

  • So that's where Cotton Hill's shins went
