    They actually did it…

    • +6

omfg thought they were joking all this time

  • +22

Alarm clocks, music streaming services.. they really be releasing anything but new hardware.

    • +15

Technically the Alarmo is new 'hardware'….

      • +1

True, not the new hardware people want though. I'll hand it to Nintendo, they get every possible dollar out of their successful consoles..

        • +2

Legend says they released Alarmo so that could be the bad in their good bad console cycle

    • and still no Persona 3 Reload smh

    • New Hardware is definitely on the way. It was discovered with codeword 'Ounce' in the latest GameFreak leak (part of the source code in Pokemon Legends Z-A iirc)

      • +1

They have confirmed it will be announced by the end of this fiscal year (March 2025), betting it will be after Christmas at this rate.

  • +1

Seems like a missed opportunity to not have it be something you can do on the Switch itself, like voice chat or any kind of messaging at all, but cool for those who want it.

It's just, if I have to get another device anyway, I've got YouTube right there.

Fans: I’d like a way to purchase your library of classic games so I don’t have to pirate them.

Nintendo: Here’s an app of the music from our classic games.

Fans: Do we get to at least purchase the music?

    Nintendo: No! Subscription service.

Fans: continues to pirate games and listen to soundtracks on YouTube

    Nintendo: 😮

    • +17

Silver lining: at least it's added to Nintendo Switch Online and not another subscription service.

    • +5

Fans: continues to pirate games and listen to soundtracks on YouTube

They will probably go after the channels that have these song rips next.

      • +1

        This is true.

    • +1

You'll have your handful of ROMs each month and you'll like it. Oh? Not enough? Well fine, have the Ice Climbers soundtrack.

  • +11

Not that big of a collection (so far):

    • NES: Metroid, Metroid (Famicom Disk System), Super Mario Bros.
    • GB: Kirby's Dream Land, Dr, Mario
    • SNES: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Donkey Kong Country
    • N64: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Lylat Wars
    • GBA: Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade
    • GC: Metroid Prime
    • DS: Tomodachi Collection, Nintendogs
    • Wii: Super Mario Galaxy, Wii Channels
    • Switch: Pikmin 4, Pokemon Scarlet/Violet, Splatoon 3, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Kirby Star Allies, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
    • +4

No Super Mario Galaxy 2? Modern Nintendo is such a joke.

    • +2

Ya they need everything on there lol

    • No Xenoblade zzzzzz

I almost got kinda excited for this, guess I'll keep using my ripped soundtracks.

    • Brought to you by whatever ludicrous self-defeating artificial scarcity fanatic is in charge of releasing old games at Nintendo.

    • Banjo Kazooie

  • +9

The only track I need is 12 hour Lo-fi hip hop loop of the zelda ocarina of time shooting gallery music

  • so Nintendo does music now?

    • They do everything except Switch 2.

I’m personally excited for the Nintendo stapler rumoured to be announced next week.

  • +8

I love how Nintendo subs really bring out the nerd rage on the internet 🤣

    • 🤓

  • +3

Good job Nintendo. App seems cool so far.

    • +1

I hope they add random video loops in the background to the soundtracks of the game being currently played. (Or an opinion to - instead of a static image screenshot of the game).

  • +1

How is this app usefull ? (Honest question)

    • +2

i remember reading somewhere that listening to mario kart soundtracks helps with studying…

  • +3

Someone DM me when they add Elite Beat Agents.

  • +1

    Who asked for this?

  • +2

Audio may stutter, but you can block spoilers from Nintendogs. 11/10.

  • +8

No golden eye 64 pause music, no deal.

  • -4

Great, now they're going to go around sueing and DMCA take down noticing all the video game music sites.

    ie - https://downloads.khinsider.com/

    • -1

      Nintendo hates preservation of art.

    • +3

They've been doing that for a while, no real reason to neg the deal is it?

      • -4

True, I'll upvote it because its such a great deal.

Edit - Damn it, I'm locked in

  • Surprised these weren't already on other streaming services? I assume they're all on youtube easily enough

  • +2

eyyy 60 mins of Mii Plaza

  • +3

Where is the GoldenEye soundtrack Nintendo. Where?

    • Talk to Microsoft for that. Nintendo doesn’t own GoldenEye, not even the N64 version.

      • Goldeneye is on the switch's classic games app, so there's that

        • Only after they talked with Microsoft to get that version on the game onto their service.

  • +1

oh nice can now listen to Mario in high quality

    • Mario (Pratt's version) :(

  • +2

Bayonetta, Xenoblade, and Goldeneye's soundtracks are nowhere to be seen. (yet)

    Ah, Nintendo
Ye like to drip-feed fans like they are in a coma or something.

  • +2

No Chromecast, so pointless if I can't blast Mario kart music all around my house.

    • Best I found was going into the Google Home app and casting audio from that - technically it's screen casting.

  • +1

Maybe Sega will follow Nintendo’s lead and release their own music app?

  • Suddenly Spotify is getting nervous… :)

  • Sorry, when they mean "download", do they mean on our phones? Would love to set some tunes as ringtone, alarms etc…
