    Awesome runners, very comfy

These are the main runners I use, always grab a pair to stick in the cupboard when they go on sale. Thank you

  • Good for walking? Looking at 20,000 steps per day

Despite all the comments above about running, I think its more fashion/walking shoes. For example, I can't find it reviewed on the runrepeat site, where all major running shoes are reviewed in depth. Asics "running" top line is Kayano (or Nimbus maybe more in line with Quantum for a heavyweight user).

      • Yup I found the same. Its a style shoe not running.

        • That's right this is not a serious runner's shoe.

For starters, there is a thing about having too much smoosh, actually saps away energy every step. It's what you sacrifice for comfort.

Then the weight! OMG. It's like lugging lead.

Sure you can use it for running, just like you can run a marathon in a pair of flip flops, but at this price there are better more serious running shoes out there.

Disclaimer: I am no expert but I recently got into more serious running and have been researching for a daily trainer.

On that site, I would take Brooks Ghost or Mizuno Wave Rider 25, 26 over this. There's actual reviews of those shoes as running shoes.

          • @hippo2s: Any suggestions for a casual runner (maybe 1-2x per week) who will run up to 10km per session?

Up to 5km at the moment but medium term goal is easy 10km runs.

Currently using a Nike Pegasus 40 which currently meets my needs but always after new things lol

            • +2

@Circly: Same as me! Up to 12km. 6.20min/km pace ATM.

Ghost is well regarded and Wave Rider is a tried and true design, both bulletproof. Just over $100 at https://www.jimkiddsports.com.au/collections/mens-running-fo…

Personally earlier today I ordered a Puma Velocity Nitro 3 on sale at puma website, $108 delivered after cashrewards (free return just in case). Limited sizing tho so try your luck.

These 3 shoes are covered well by the runners shoe review community. YouTube them.

The Pegasus is pretty decent, Ghost and Wave Rider compete in that same category. I felt too thin for my daily run tho so wanted more foam.

              • @hippo2s: Cheers. Will check them out!

Jimm sport has some good deals.

I was also looking at the Asics Gel-Nimbus which has good reviews. They got some previous gen models on there at a decent price as well.

My Pegasus is serving me well, definitely wasn't as cloud like compared to the Nimbus I tried on the weekend lol.

I looked at my buy history and apparently I purchased a PUMA Velocity Nitro 2 last year and returned it… From memory the shoe ran big? I think I'd need to try that model on before buying again.

          • @hippo2s: Sorry those shoes are available from https://www.jimkiddsports.com.au/collections/mens-running-fo…

            Around $100 mark too.

    Sorry,,this is OzBargain,not OzLetsGetRidOfTheUgly ones.

  • Good enough for ol' Spanian adlay..
Personally I'd pay more for a nicer colourway, not many sizes in the cheap ones anyway but may suit some people.
