Sound System for Outdoor Covered Area

My father's birthday is coming up and he would like a decent system for their outdoor area.

It is a 7 X 11 covered patio that sits next to the house. There are wooden posts on the other side we could mount to but running power would be annoying. I think ceiling mounting is also out. So, mounting will likely be on the house side on brick under the eaves but may be sprinkled with rain coming sideways. I'm not really sure on the budget yet but sub $1000 would be a good place to start. He would just be connecting his phone via Bluetooth and possibly the TV for sports, nothing of high quality.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

edit. I am looking for a hardwired system so we don't have to deal with batteries.

      "nothing of high quality."

  • I'd get a few UE Megaboom 3 and link them - you could even get some cheap solar-usb chargers to keep them charged - even a central hyperboom would probably do the trick and a couple of Megabooms linked in stereo.
HB is $599 atm and MB3 as low as $219 - wait for sales and you would get it all sub $1000

  • if you are in the apple ecosystem get a pair of homepod mini.

I read Bluetooth may not be that great as you are forever recharging the batteries? I think they were saying use a bluetooth amp and run cables?

    • I was referring to bluetooth and just the connectivity to play the music. I was wholly expecting to be recommended a system with 3/4 wired speakers and a base unit to connect everything. Everyone seems to just think portable bluetooth speakers.

Thanks for the link, will read through
