USB C Charge Cables Purchase Decision

This may seem trivial to some, but having just bought an iPad Air 13 from the deal posted here a few days ago, awesome device, I have joined the world of USB C charging for the first time.

The only decent USB C charging cable I have is the one in the box. It’s pricey from Apple

I am after another high charge speed USB C to USB C Cable and also an USB A to USB C cable.

I found these two, are they OK both price and usage wise?

I've bought both of these Ugreen cables from Amazon for charging and monitor. Haven't had any issue with them after a couple of years.

both anker and ugreen are good, better than baseus (for me.)
if you can wait get from aliexpress from reputable brands like cabletime, essager, etc (they also sell ugreen there). cheaper but good

Ugreen are fine. Anker would be by preference.

Most of my charging cables are Baseus - 60W/100W and are all working fine (One died, but it was abused). Earliest purchase is just coming up on 5 years old.

I've been opting for UGREEN cables for a while now. Never had an issue. I've used Baseus in the past and have never had an issue either.

  • Anker cables seem to be significantly more expensive, at least on Amazon, so I will probably go for the two Ugreen cables I linked since the feedback is positive.

All I will be doing with them is charging my iPad and transferring media to a PC. One of my PCs is USB A only.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    • transferring media to a PC

You will probably want a minimum of a USB 3 cable of some sort for transferring data.

      • I won’t be doing huge transfers but do you have any recommendations for such cables?

      • I think if it’s not a iPad Pro it’s limited to USB2.0 anyway even if USB-C.

just Apple things they save most of the best spec for their TOTL models.

same with new iPhone 16. only 16 Pro gets USB3.

  • i get mine from aliexpress in the choice bundle deals - "3 items from US $2.99 w/ free shipping" section .

my daughter uses the toocki usb-c to usb-c for charging her ipad gen 11 (as well as transferring data).

you can get 3 twin packs (6 x 1 metre cables) for AU$10.43 delivered.

Slowly replacing all my braided charging cables to silicone coated ones, much easier to handle and store. I find braided cables too stiff and annoying for charging and using the device at the same time. Aliexpress cables are fine, just don't get cables longer than you need, most my 2m cables starts malfunctioning after a year.

  • I ended up buying the two cables I listed above from AliExpress for a fraction of the cost.

My first purchase from them after I discovered they accept PayPal.

    Thanks for all the advice.
