Triban RC 520 Bicycle (Shimano 105, Disc Brakes) $990 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Decathlon

1770
TOWNHALL10

The Triban RC 520 is being discounted by Decathlon to $1100. By using the code 'TOWNHALL10' the price drops further to $990.

This is an absolutely incredible deal for anyone looking for a road bike.

The bike comes with a Shimano 105 drivetrain, hybrid disc brakes which going by reviews perform almost as well as a full hydraulic system, tubeless ready tyres and a carbon fibre fork. An equivalent bike from another brand would cost around $2000-2500.

The bike also comes with a lifetime warranty on the frame as well as free lifetime returns.

      • Yeah true.. it shows up as “tracked” though.. It’s a bonus if approved 😀

  • I am 180cm, is size Medium too small?

    • -1

      Medium would be perfect

      • 175 is max recommended for road bikes though?

      • based on the photo sizing, M is for 175-180 however being on the top end limit is always better than the other way around as it is easier to change a longer stem. For me I am at cut off point between Size S and M on Giant and at one point 1 own both sizes and I found Size S is way better so I sold the M. Personal choice at the end

Strongly advise seeing if you can test ride before purchasing; you can never tell if a bike will 'properly' fit until you give it a spin. Any decent bike shop will allow a test ride.

    • Best try before buying as it could fit but might also be too small depending on your body proportions.
You can adjust the length by swapping out the stem (at a cost) but if you have long legs, the steapost might not be long enough and you may have a bigger drop to handlebars than you like.

I hope we get Van Rysel RCR stuff here eventually.

I saw one in Decathlon Hong Kong - not the full AGR2 TDF replica spec, but with SRAM Force in white. Priced at 39,999HKD so just under $8K AUD.

That's not too bad, I saw the one with SRAM Rival and Zipp 303 wheels in Chengdu for 25,000 RMB or $5,300 and with 105 was $2.3K.

And the RCR shoes are so nice but I just bought a new pair a couple of months ago so had to pass on them!

        • interesting they are now selling so many variants with different groupsets! $2.3K for the 105 spec sounds good was that with the same zipp wheelset?

            @ShoeyAU: It was Fulcrum 600 I think.

  • Would this drop straight on a Kickr V5 with the (v5) included 11-28t 11-speed cassette ?

  • How would this go riding on empty footpaths where traffic is too hectic to risk my life on?

    • keen to know as well

  • What's with the ratings at the bottom? There's a heap of 1 star but I can't even filter for them to see what people are unsatisfied about?

    • Might not have left comments to read and only rated 1/5? I can only see 5 out of 47 reviews.

      • Yeah I don't know, something shonky with the reviews - Firstly it says the aggregate rating is 4.17/5 from the total 47 reviews. But the breakdown shows that 30/47 are 1 star rating… and we're not allowed to see the ones below 4 star rating???

        • 4.17 average is correct. 30/47 is 5 star, not 1 star.
We only read 4 out of 30 5 star reviews and 1 out of 7 as well. My guess is that the we can't see "reviews" where people only left a star rating but didn't write anything else so there is nothing to read so nothing to show.

  • Incredible price and very good bike. The only thing is, try and pick it up from the store. I had many setup issues with the hoods in the wrong place, gearing completely off, etc.

  • Was looking at the Merida Endurance road bike for just over $2000 with full 105 and hydraulic brakes.
Now this deal comes along…hmmmm. Any thoughts?

If you can afford the Scultura its a much better bike, this isnt even in the same league

      • Thank you now I've got something in writing to show my better half

  • This is not even close to $2000-2500 value from other brands, you can get much better than this for $1600 new.
For example, this Reid Vantage 3.0 has a full hydraulic 105 group set, https://www.reidcycles.com.au/products/vantage-3-road-bike-m….
Now, I don't really like recommending Reid if you want any kind of after sales service, because you wont get it in my experience, but you can't deny that is a decent price for a bike with full hydraulic 105 (Yes, it is only 11 speed, but who cares?)
This Triban is worth $1100 at most, for $2000-2500 you can get new carbon bikes with full hydraulic 105 if you shop around.

  • Code just expired, but product still available in few sizes.

  • Im not a bike expert, but looking to get into more riding but will also carry my toddler around as well. Can i attach a child carrier of some sort to this bike?

  • I was looking to buy this bike for doing maybe food deliveries with hungry panda. Would this be a good option? Also the code just expired, can someone fix that? Thanks.

    • Wouldn't you want an electric bike for food deliveries? Might be too slow if you have hills to go up.

      • Good point. Do you have any recommendations for electric bike to do food deliveries? I don’t wanna spend too much but I do want a good quality bike for riding during the day and the night.

  • This or a second hand good condition 2006 trek madone 5.5 (dura ace 7800, carbon frame)?

  • Didn't expect this much dick swinging in the comments with regard to bicycles. Reminds me of the audiophiles on whirlpool.

    • Absolutely haha

    • Need to make up for the lack of swinging when wearing lycra.
