Affordable Cabinet Maker Recommendations in Melbourne's Inner West?

Hey everyone, I'm looking for recommendations for good and affordable cabinet makers around the inner west of Melbourne. Ideally, someone who provides quality work without breaking the bank. Any suggestions or experiences would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Edit: my washing machine space is tiny and I want to get it widened out. Very small job.

Ideally, someone who provides quality work without breaking the bank

No such thing. Customisation cost money and they are usually busy on major projects.

    • I just need a tiny thing done, my washing machine space is too tight - just need the cabinet next to it made skinnier.

      • You could try Airtasker or DIY. I was looking for one for a small task, contact 3, 2 were busy and one quoted $1000 but afrer few months.
End up doing it myself. This was before COVID.

Correct. Good cabinet makers are in HIGH DEMAND

If you want a good one they will be very busy and hence will be demanding what they can get.

And why not? No point in selling yourself short.

People like OP will simply self-eliminate.

Might be lucky to find a young start-up hungry for jobs.

  • Depends on the type of cabinetry already in place.

What is the width of the current washing machine space?

      • Yeah, not too complicated.

Why widen the washing machine space? That is a standard width.

        • See reply below

      • 62cm is what you got now? Standard appliances width is 60cm.

        • Nah because the door frame comes in 2.5 inches. (Theres a door outside the cupboard door you can actually see it in the photo).

@pixpotato: What does this even mean.

            • @brendanm: Something about washing machine getting in the way of the door? What about getting a sliding door installed?

              • @joka: Going off the photo, there is nothing in the way of anything, so I can't figure out what it is OP actually wants.

                • @brendanm: Ok since you guys werent seeing what I was talking about I added a blue circle: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/146661/116913/20241030…

Laundry is behind two doors. And the door frame on the outside impacts the putting in and taking out.

                  • @pixpotato:

And the door frame on the outside impacts the putting in and taking out.

If the door in blue impacts the pulling in, how did you put the dishwasher in first place?
                    remove the door frame?
if that the case, this a defect caused by the builder. Your other option would be put a different type of door.

I would just let it be till you move out or new washing machine replacemnet.

                  • @pixpotato: You put it on an an angle to start with. There's one in there, so it is definitely possible.

                    • @brendanm: It would be if the washing machine isnt a million kilos heavy. I struggle wobbled it in hard, but now its not moving even a cm.

@pixpotato: You have to do it once, washing machines aren't even that heavy. Pay someone else to put it in the hole for you.

                          hehehe
                          .

  • Maybe try local groups in FaceBook. Someone may have a recommendation. Mind you, small jobs are expensive.

LOL if you could get away with it just buy it from IKEA. It is probably better quality and you get 365 day returns.

    I am not affiliated.

  • With such a small job your best bet would be getting something modular
