Always wanted to visit the japans

Did anyone else have a notification saying, "China Southern: Beijing Return $425…." and it leading to this page?

    • yeah. looks like OP used a template and changed the text after posting.

    • +1

Hi - I did initially post the Beijing/Shanghai deal, but I changed it just after I posted it, as I thought the Japan deal was better.

      Here is the original deal:
      https://iwantthatflight.com.au/d115511-Flights-to-China-from…

      • +2

But one is to China and the other is to Japan.
Do you have a limit on your posts?

Everyone who is subscribed would've got the email about the China deal, no email about a Japan deal.

    • Go to revisions at the top of this page and look at the 1st page in the history. You'll see all the details of the China Southern flights.
Outstanding Beijing return prices as China Southern just started this route to Daxing, hopefully the prices will stay down because the non stop option was crazy expensive compared to other 1 stop options (eg. Hainan)

  • +3

You'll definitely want to add luggage, to the return flight at least. So much stuff over there is dirt cheap, especially the alcohol. Shame we have limits on how much alcohol we can bring back in through customs for free.

    • +1

Consider just carry-on. Allows greater travel freedom! (There are services to send parcels home.)

Flown Jetstar to Japan about 8 times. Never added luggage, just carry on for each 4+ week holiday.

To make room for things to bring home - gave away some (washed) old clothes to homeless.

Bought beautiful old Yukatas (cotton Kimino) - wore onto flight. And lots of other stuff. And of course the Whiskey. All fitted in carry-on.

I prefer to explore a region each trip from a base (eg areas around Kansai from cheap accommodation in Osaka). Rather than travelling long distances on a trip.
Have travelled regions from islands north of Hokkaido to tropical islands of Okinawa.

Much easier if not lugging luggage!

      • I'm not much of a shopper but I've also done Japan about eight times and am exclusively carry on only

My loadout weighs about 5.5kg fully packed and it makes getting around so easy. No need to haul suitcases up and down stairs, or having to divert to/from the hotel to drop off your bag early. Plus most Japanese hotels have a coin laundry on site so you don't really need to pack more than a few days worth of clothes.

Get off plane/train >> straight to sightseeing

  • dangerous flight that i want to do lol

June to August in Honshu Tokyo Kyoto Osaka very hot and humid. Not for the feint hearted. Pack lots of underwear

    • Got back late September and it was still mid 30s and humidity through the roof. Would not recommend lol.

    • why pack, when you can buy cheap.

Recently bought $850 mel-hk-tokyo return on cathay pacific for march 2025 - better airline, included baggage food entertainment. Worth the extra.

    • Did it include a free stopover in HK?

      • +2

yep, we are going mel-hk-tokyo, then doing osaka-hk, 3 nights stopover then HK-mel.

    • Is this with the multi-trip option or you searched Melb to Tokyo? Searching from Syd with multi trip is $1.1k

      • Booked it direct on cathay website using multitrip, but the sale did end at the end of September. I should've posted that deal here when it was available. Normally goes on sale like this few times per year

    • Are you not entertained? - Jetstar

Paid 649 AUD return via Singapore Airlines, for mid Feb 2025 to mid March 2025. seems like the best deal. short 1-2 hour layovers in singapore. worth it to me!

    • Mate. You won the OzBargain lotto

      • +1

Haha I guess! I saw heaps of $650-$800 Singapore return flights in that period. No idea why they weren’t posted on here tho… oh well 🤷‍♂️

      • +1

There's still some availability but you'll need to do some digging

Fukuoka and Nagoya have plenty of availability around the $800 mark, Osaka and Tokyo are a smidge under $1k when I checked earlier today

    • Layover + a non-direct route though. Much better airline of course, just depends how much you value your time I suppose. Personally as I always just take a 7Kg backpack, I don't mind the no-frills Jetstar treatment when combined with a direct route.

      • Direct is only from Cairns. Sydney and Brisbane. Some of us like to live in good cities (jk lol) and have to transit anyway, in which case cathay/singapore makes a lot more sense when they're on sale

  • +3

Ana return with free domestic flights inclusive bags entertainment and meals for 1045 each for a night flight was the best deal i found and ana rated 4th in the world. Flying syd-tokyo, tokyo-osaka, osaka- tokyo, tokyo-syd.

  • +1

is there anything at all for April during easter?

  • For anyone planning on buying luggage capacity, it may be worth waiting for an ANA or Japan Airlines (JAL) deal as they've been doing lots of $900 flights this year, and the service and inclusions are top-notch.

  • Absolute choice deal but I've got a bit of Post Traumatic Jetstar Disorder, thoughts on Qantas following suit?
