Left 4 Dead

From Valve (the creators of Counter-Strike, Half-Life and more) comes Left 4 Dead, a co-op action horror game for the PC and Xbox 360 that casts up to four players in an epic struggle for survival against swarming zombie hordes and terrifying mutant monsters.

Left 4 Dead 2

Set in the zombie apocalypse, Left 4 Dead 2 (L4D2) is the highly anticipated sequel to the award-winning Left 4 Dead, the #1 co-op game of 2008. This co-operative action horror FPS takes you and your friends through the cities, swamps and cemeteries of the Deep South, from Savannah to New Orleans across five expansive campaigns.

2 includes all the content from the first game. There’s no reason to get the first anymore

now this is a fantastic game

and absolutely perfect for a modern mini pc without dedicated graphics

    • Yeah I'm looking forward to playing this on the Steam Deck when I get one.

  • is 1 better than 2?

    • 2 is definitely better, but people seem to like the characters from 1 more.

Personally as someone who played competitively I feel pure gameplay/feel in versus for 1 is alot better albeit guessing you wouldn't find a game these days. Content in 2 dwarfs 1 however with alot more options and there's probably still players.

I would remove the bundle and first game from this post. As mentioned above, the second game includes all the content from the first so there’s no point in buying the original game anymore.

I'd like to hear the counter argument of the person who negged this comment

      • Alright then, keep your secrets

Played this late at night with the lights off and headphones on when it first came out.

I recommend wearing the brown pants.

    • Try playing the Mutation where you're the only player for the map vs all the zombies (no AI help), even spookier!

The 1st game was great as the atmosphere was excellent and the weapons were limited. When the 2nd one was released, all of the maps from the 1st game was updated too, but the variety of weapons made it less scary. Both of these shit over Back4Blood, which feels like a poor imitation.

I don’t get how Back4Blood was so poor runs like a dog too when I played it.

Recently went to buy this on Xbox and was heartbroken it’s not available, is great fun couch co op.

Played over 400 hours on the first game and over 800 hours on the second one. However these games are so old now, the more important question is are where still many people playing online and can you easily team up?

    • Yeah - am wondering this too - I absolutely loved both 1 and 2 back in the days (on the xbox), am tempted to buy it - but not if the scene is fairly non-existent.

    • Yes, there's dedicated servers for custom maps and official servers from Steam for the main campaigns

    • over 800 hours on the second one

Lol I'm almost upto 8k and this is without any VS

      • Can't say I admire your hours spent playing this game. By the time I have played 800 hours, I thought to myself this was just too much time spent playing this one game, so I forced myself to quit and uninstall the game.

        • Yeah it's the only game I bothered playing.

Ive played all major games in the last 25 years, this is my most played game. over GTA over COD over TLOU over RDR2, most fun multiplayer game. in aus there is games going on but not as many as USA like LA server if u swap download location in steam it connects to LA and there usually there is 50 plus games goin on at any time. prepare to play with 150-200 ping tho

  • Can i play Left4dead 2 with my computer having the specs as AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U with Radeon Graphics 1.90 GHz 48gb ram?

L4D2 can be played on an absolute potato.

  • Are the corpses still censored in L4D2? I know when 1 came out it was gory then 2 was released it was uncensored for a while then they pulled it from sale, then returned it with little to no blood / corpses. The bodies just falls and disappear, not worth playing like that

    • +1

No, there is a free DLC for the gore. Unlike the days when we bought it via VPN to get the gore.

      • Or just download a mod to uncensor it.

  • Not only can you play the game practically on a potato, if you have a modern PC, you might want to look at limiting the fps to match that of your monitor.

Last I checked, L4D2 will only cap at 300fps, even if your monitor caps well below that.

Probably a good idea in general to install something like MSI Afterburner/RivaTuner, since some older games will try to push pointlessly large fps with no built-in caps.

It was hilarious to see/hear my 6800 running like a jet engine, as Neverwinter Nights 2 pushed thousands of frames per second, wasting energy for nothing.

      Easy. Just enable Vsync.

  • Listen for the witch!

    • Stop it dude.

      • Can you hear the crying?

        • Dude 😱 …if she hears us…

          • @Flyerone: Sneak up from behind, quickly pump her dead with shotgun shells, otherwise you'll be dead by her ferocious slashes.

          • @Flyerone: It's the tenseness of hearing her as you search…… great game.
