I've had a cold call from Origin Energy to sign up my gas and electricity back with them.
They have said I'd get ~14% off gas and electricity usage (I know not as good as RE) on a no fixed contract plan and they will pay all break fees with my current provider.
Doesn't sound like a awesome deal, but thought maybe I could get a decent deal out of it if I go back to Origin for a few months then sign back with Red Energy (if I am entitled to a new rebate and referral).
What do you think it is worth a try?

They all come to an end, in the past they have renewed the offer. They may again.
Lets say it gets renewed again, do you think I'd be a chance of getting the referral bonus if I sign up again after leaving Red?

Yep with Red right now, still on contract. Origin said they would cover any early termination fees from my current provider (with no contract with Origin deal).
Would plan on going back to Red after a short period with Origin if there's the possibility of obtaining a new referral offer (and a new $100 rebate if I'm extremely lucky) when I rejoin.

Interesting proposal from origin. I'd get it in writing somehow haha. Assuming no new rebate offer, it seems like a lot of work for a $50 gift card, no? (And it would be less than that if you say the origin deal isn't as good as what you're paying with red now).
True true. Initially I said I wasn't interested at all, but when they said they will cover all early termination penalties I thought it might be worth a shot.
I agree, too much work for $50 but originally I got $100 rebate off first bill and $50 referral gift card so worth my time for $150 benefit :)
She did get me to sign up with Origin but I'm in my cooling off period so I might just pull the plug on it.
I just received a letter of increase from Red Energy. Effective 1 July 2014 my peak usage charges will increase by 7% and daily supply charge by 14%.
Now very uncompetitive - luckily i'm not on a contract anymore!

The unit pricing is generally standard for all in a specific area and might change due to the distributor. The contract determines the % discount given on those standard rates.
It will also be interesting to see how RED will respond to NSW Deregulation in July as well as other Providers.

Right. Sorry I think we had some miscommunication. I spoke with Red, and you were likely under a specific, fixed-rate deal/contract that stated the rates could be increased upon expiration of the contract. The rep said this was offered to a small percentage of Victoria, so very few people will be affected by the increase in rates.
For future knowledge, a contract guarantees the pay-on-time discount throughout the length of the contract, but does not guarantee the tariffs as outlined in your attached T & C's.
I called them now, there is a general increase for most customers in Victoria - it is not specific to the contract I was (the contract has the standard increase clause stated above), so any Red customer could be affected.
Note that new Victorian customers can still join at old rates and those rates will be guaranteed until 31 December 2014. Confirm your rates at http://www.redenergy.com.au/epis/vic

Not sure if people know, but instead of asking and waiting, there is a Red Energy Referral Wiki to easily obtain account numbers for referral purposes.
This is also mentioned at the top of the OP.
Is this promo still running? The T&C on the website states until 31/12/14.
If someone can find me confirmation that it is still running, I'll happily use their referral code.
