Come on should be free on Apple Arcade

Apple Arcade is a paid sub though so you are paying $10 every month. I know because I have iPad and it offered me 3 months free trial.

      • It would be a good game for it though. If game makers in Arcade make a bit of a cut per month if their game is played a lot then could earn Nintendo some money. Charging $20 a pop could earn them more though. Especially when Arcade lacks a lot of prestige at the moment, unlike Gamepass.

        • from a bargain perspective I think the $10 to play one game for 2+ years is worth it. animal crossing gets more playtime than other popular games. you should know you mention you played new horizons.

yeah there are more games you can play on Arcade, but $10 per month on going is not worth it imo. at the time I was offered 3 months free I looked up what's worth playing and there was only a few less than 10 that other people rated highly. but no guarantee I would play them for long, I think there was only 2 on that list I would consider playing and I decided to not start the 3 months free trial.

idk if this is the case for everyone, but I have a feeling if you buy apple giftcards regularly like once a year they might offer you another free 3 months if you have never subbed. I have a feeling the 3 months offer I got expired, and when I bought a giftcard (normally $200+ amount once a year) they give you 3 months free Apple TV (returning as well, you just get it no matter what) and I think they offered me 3 months Arcade again at least once, but I can't remember it clearly.

    • There's a similar-looking Hello Kitty game that's free on Apple Arcade.

    • I, for one, require bleeding edge graphics in my…Animal Crossing game!

    Preordered! Thanks OP!

  • Is this the game that many people played during covid era?

    • +9

Probably thinking of New Horizons on Switch

      • No there's another version that's on the phone

        • +2

There's the current version of Pocket Camp, but while there was a boost that didn't massively take off during COVID like New Horizons

so they took the free version and re released it at a cost.

There will be no microtransactions, which would total much more than $10 for the average, active player.

      • +3

That's an understatement, if you were going to spend in Pocket Camp, $10 gets you basically nothing.

It says you get 7 years of paid content all in one standalone app, with no more future purchases. I know nothing about this game but I'm guessing all of the paid content makes it approximate a normal Animal Crossing game? Looking at online discussions, Pocket Camp is meant to be a bit more like Wild World than New Horizons.

PSA: For those they played the soon to be shut down Pocket Camp, you will have the ability to port your save file over.

2017, wow I didn't even know about this. I used to play hundreds of hours on all the console Animal Crossings. Am I even a gamer anymore?

  • +1

Oh man I used to play the current/old version heaps until ACNH came out haha. Maybe time to get back into now…

  • Does this have multiplayer?

    • +1

Won’t be online so I doubt it

  • wait is this the full animal crossing with an online multiplayer? man thats better than the current switch version.

    • +1

They've had a version called Pocket Camp with online multiplayer features and regular event updates - the gameplay promoted connectivity.

Nintendo announced they're shutting down that version permanently and replacing it with this offline, one time payment app - however, they are allowing players to port over their safe file to preserve some of the progress they've made over the past several years.

Shutting down a live-service game and replacing it with an offline version actually rules, more companies should do this.
