Does Travel Insurance Just for Flight Delays/Luggage Exist?

Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone has come across an insurance that covers just the actual 24 hours or so of flying time to Europe etc?

Say I'm going to Europe in November until January, and I have local insurance at the destination, I wouldn't want to get full travel insurance - just would want to be covered for the plane travel time there and back.

Thanks so much in advance!

  • If you are after coverage of delays use this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/775837

    • New Worldwide Wallet travel cards are currently unavailable. We apologise for any inconvenience.

  • What exactly do you want to be covered for during the actual 24 hours of flying time to Europe?

    just lost luggage?

    • Lost Luggage, flight delay etc

      • It sounds like a cost saving.

But, if you only want lost luggage and flight delay and the etc…

What about https://edition.cnn.com/2024/05/21/world/singapore-airlines-… when the worst happens and you really need Travel Insurance.

Is your dual citizen cover going to cover you for something major en route… probably not.

  • Just buy travel insurance for 2 days?

    • +1

You can't do this, insurance companies will generally invalidate insurance if its not your entire trip length.

  • +1

I'm more curious about how you already have insurance at the destination? Dual citizen or something?

Personally I'm not overly concerned with lost luggage or a delayed flight, I only get travel insurance incase I end up in hospital.

    • Correct, dual citizen lol

  • Credit card insurance?

  • travel insurance helps with all items but primarily for loss or damage during your trip or unanticipated cancellations

  • if going to buy travel insurance why not but at time trip booked, since it start cover even before the actual flight?

  • Generally the Online Travel Agent or airline you book with will have these options when you check out.

They may offer it as a full comprehensive policy or unbundle it as a standalone product eg "lost baggage protection"

As for getting it completely separately as a consumer yourself, I can't think of one.
