Reliable Good Value Pressure Cooker

Hello everyone, I'm looking for a reliable pressure cooker (just pressure cooker, not 9-in-one, etc).

Something reliable, minimum 6-7 litres.

What brand do you suggest, and where did you buy yours from?

Thanks

I've had my Crockpot brand Express pressure cooker for 4 years - I know it's not what you're after but yes it also is a slow cooker too.
Hasn't let me down yet. One of the best things is that it has the same settings and features as the InstantPot brand, which is 'the' pressure cooker brand in the States, so there's no shortage of recipes that are tailored for its controls.

We have had a lot of pressure cookers over the years. (3- 5 different ones).
    Stovetop versions:
We bought ours in this deal a few years ago.
    Price has increased many fold.

As my Mum is an elderly person, she likes the lighter 5 L Aluminium Pressure Cooker that is made by TEFAL.
It is easier to handle being lighter (yes, the volume is less).
We also like very much the EASE of the pressure cooker system this has and it is non-stick to boot.
    Seems only available from Amazon.
I am surprised it is not more widely available. (So expensive, but the lid system is THAT GOOD)…

Cheaper version of Aluminum with non-stick, but different pressure system.

I'm looking for a reliable pressure cooker (just pressure cooker, not 9-in-one, etc).

But why? You don’t have to use the other features and Insta pot is everywhere and easy to get extra stainless steel pots makes bulk cooking easy

Yeah, I don't quite understand this. The pressure cooker is the hard part, being a slow cooker, rice cooker, etc just means it can run at a lower temperature without pressure.

    A few options here: https://www.victoriasbasement.com.au/c/cookware-bakeware/pre…

The Fagor 4Ltr & 6Ltr combo seems good, stainless is best in my experience.

    • Thanks, the combo looks great, but unfortunately Fagor stopped manufacturing, so will probably avoid as there's unlikely to be any spare parts.

They do stock a German Enamal Pressure Cooker - any idea if that's any good?

Shame about Fagor going under. Not sure about the enamel ones, I've got a stainless Fissler from when they were less expensive and some parts for that are hard to find at reasonable prices. It will probably last forever though if the seals and plastic parts are still available.

    Instantpot.

After my Breville version of an InstantPot died, I picked up a Kmart version for $50 and it's holding up magnificently for 5+ years and 99% of its use is as a pressure cooker. It was only supposed to tide me over until I found a deal for a better one but I stopped looking for another one years ago. The sauté feature is useful if you need to brown anything for extra flavour before pressure cooking.

Sadly, Kmart doesn't sell pressure cookers any more. I would have deleted this comment, but I thought it would be helpful to others who might be wary of purchasing a cheap pressure cooker.

  • Might be an overkill, but this one? Same as what kfc use. 16 yo cook not included.

  • Do you want an electric one or a stovetop one?

    • Excellent question - stovetop one.

I have a Fissler stovetop pressure cooker that I’ve barely used. The InstantPot gets a regular workout. In all honesty the ease of not having to watch a pressure cooker on the stove is worth a couple of bucks more.
