Yes U2713HM would be a better buy I reckon — cheaper during sales and more pixels :) It seems the only benefit of this is watching the 2.35:1 cinema movies.
It looks amazing
The problem is games likely don't support it and Windows works poorly with full screen applications so it would be difficult to get proper use out of this monitor.
I noticed dell have the U2711 for $674 ($225 off) at the moment. Is that better than the U2713HM (at $559 when it's on special)?
That would be why. It's the equivalent of 1920 x 1080 (AKA, underwhelming resolution for such a large monitor) at the 21:9 aspect ratio. The U2713HM (2560 x 1440, 16:9) regularly goes for $559.
