    I have one of these, I'd say it's worth the extra $250, despite it just being a timed/height measurement and tamper built in.

    It does come down to how picky one is about their coffee though. It's not 100% consistent, but it's close enough that I value how little effort it takes.

  I can't comprehend why people just don't buy a full automatic machine? Am I missing something?

    A comparable machine that's fully automatic will always cost more. An entry level automatic (that includes milk frothing) is around $700 or so. And it won't be as good as this machine.

    Full automatic doesn't really offer much benefits for the casual coffee drinker either. If you have a household full of people or an office drinking coffee then sure. But for one or two a day, you're emptying and wiping out the bin and cleaning the milk line daily anyway, it's not really any different than wiping down the steam wand and throwing out a puck.
