How to Secure European Football Tickets Early?

Hi.. we are planning to go to Europe in April/May next year.

We would love to watch a Real Madrid football match at the stadium.. perhaps another game in England or Italy but at least a biggish game in the Santiago Bernabeu. Always been on my bucket list.
Most clubs start selling the tickets a month or so before match day.
What do overseas travellers who would like to guarantee tickets before committing to the travel do?
I don’t want to book accommodation and airline tickets a month before the travel as they will become much more expensive and I’ve got some qantas points that I can use so need to book early.

It’s okay not to say anything sometimes.

      • Is European footy different to Australian footy?

Here, members get first access to tickets.

        • Nevermind, I thought you were trolling again.

Also, tickets are already available online to book.

  • You can easily obtain tickets through viagogo.com but they won't be cheap.

  • https://www.sportsbreaks.com is an official partner for quite a few clubs (looks like mostly English) and also offer RM matches. Requires booking the hotel through them also though.

    • Also Champions Travel, P1 Travel and Go Sports Travel are authorised resellers. They have different bundles so it is possible to buy tickets without also booking hotels through them. I used Go Sports last year, it was expensive as they only had seats reserved in the premium locations.

For most of the clubs you can buy membership from their official website and then purchase tickets straight from there. I don't know about Real but for ManUtd you can ask the Sydney Man united supporters facebook group to secure a ticket for for the match you are interested in.

  • We found it was a lot easier to try to get tickets to mid-week cup games, like FA Cup, Spanish Super Cup and/or EUFA Europa League. This is due partly to the draw for these games being planned in a much shorter timeframe than the league. Still a great experience, just a lot easier than trying to get tickets to league game that is "sold out" way in advance by members of the larger teams, or Champions League which is in high demand.

  • Much appreciated everyone.. will have a closer look at the suggestions and figure something out. Cheers

  • Look at purchasing a hospitality ticket through an authorised reseller as well, slightly more expensive but it's an easy way to get a ticket. Be very wary of sites like viagogo. I managed to buy a ticket a few years ago to Barca vs Madrid at the Nou Camp just normally through the Barca website, not sure how I managed that one.
