Hotel Chocolat Machine

Anyone own this here can only be purchased overseas uk etc
Can you buy the satchel for them or do you use something else.
What did you do regarding the plug is it safe to use adaptor or did you cut off plug and fit Australian one.

Thinking of giving this as a gift wife hinted for one but not sure if she aware of plug and if you can buy the satchel here and do they cost heaps surely there is something similar here or better.

      • How do you know their wife prefers white ?

        • I could ask the same with any colour, why not provide all options?

      • What on earth does that machine even do? Why can't you use a regular steam wand to make hot chocolate like they do at cafes.

His wife hinted she wants one as a gift so your statement is irrelevant.

        • Quiet. You'll ruin the magic and mystique.

  • The Amazon reviews answer your questions.

    • Which are real and which are fake though?

OP seems pretty lazy so I'll lay it out for them….

Previous review flagged Aus incompatibility - its not a big deal. From the UK the electrical compliance is fine.. just buy an adapter to fit our powerpoints. Inexpense and safe. Another reviewer advised that we cant buy the Hotel Chocolate chocolate, and reading the instructions the manufacturer tells us to only use their porduct. But the mechanisn is very simple, and any locally available product works perfectly. You can get creative and make your own…I tried a popular chocolate orange from the supermarket and pulsed it in a food processor for a couple of seconds. Ta daaa!

  • I like that Amazon notes that

Customers who bought this item also bought:

SAA Approved UK/US/JP/CA to AU/NZ Adaptor Plug with Insulated Pins, UK/US Plug Convert to 3-Pin Australian/New Zealand/China

Just buy a stand alone milk frother and add chocolate powder.

  • Is this not just a milk frother, but they get you to put their overpriced chocolate sachet in?

  • As much as she likes her coffee machines etc I just not see anything special about this or I’m positive something a fraction of cost could do same.
What put me off was price but not only that is not available here and the satchels for them on what I found was expensive or not even available from Amazon au.
Yes I did read comments on people using other stuff that did same thing.
I rather give her something more worthwhile and worth the cost than this.
If it drops Black Friday I bite otherwise I tell her it’s uk plug which ain’t the issue but the stuff she is supposed to use is not available and that there are way cheaper things that do just same.

So what options are there that I can possibly get or i could give the value of what she wanted but give her alternative.
She is getting other good gifts but this was just going to me something extra.

  • You could get one of these
    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/breville-the-milk-cafe-milk-…

I would look at one of these
    https://www.myer.com.au/p/bialetti-bialetti-tuttocrema-milk-…

Although the Breville Bambino plus is now our weapon of choice for making hot chocolate. We use a combination of Belgian chocolate buds from Costco and Lindt 90% chocolate bars.makes a good hot chocolate.

    • What about this item

      https://www.amazon.com.au/Bialetti-1164-Express-Export-Espre…

I know nothing about these items you posted and what they do I assume hot chocolate etc etc it was she hinted on the item i started this thread on and so be honest I think it’s overpriced crap. And i assume your items are better for less or simpler prices

      • I don’t drink coffee or tea, I drink hot chocolates. I’m always on the quest for devices that make good hot chocolates.

Both of the items I’ve mentioned primarily create frothed milk. I own both of them.i take a mug and put the chocolate in the bottom, small pieces makes it melt easier. Then take the heated frothed milk and mix in a smallish amount with the chocolate to melt it, then top with the rest of the milk and froth and mix gently but thoroughly,

To me the Bialetti makes the best foam. I don’t use the stovetop I warm the milk in the microwave.

The Breville Bambino Plus is a mini espresso machine. You use the steam wand to create the frothy milk. To me this gives a better consistency for the foam.

Maybe discuss a few options with the girlfriend and see what she is looking for. Best of luck.

        • But the spoils it telling her I could just grab both items you recommended and hope it’s what she wanted.
So your saying the Bialetti is a better buy or need both items.
I’m sure wife will know what products she needs to buy etc to gain what she needs I have no clue but I wanted maybe to get these and as a surprise and I am assuming way better option that what she had asked for originally in this post.

          • @bwatt72: Surprises are nice but getting something that works for her is better. I’m giving you the options that worked for me. In my opinion the bialetti gives good foamed milk, and is well priced, but it does require some manual intervention to heat the milk and pumping the foam. The Breville milk frother is more set and forget. Both of these now get minimal use since we got the Breville Bambino Plus.

Maybe Google all the products and see what videos are around for all three.

            • @try2bhelpful: I did read comments on here somewhere about the Breville Bambino Plus and they was not great even it never had a coffee grinder and various other complaints not only that ain’t it just a coffee machine?
Wife does already have a coffee machine which is getting older now.
I did almost get the breville machine and the portable one which you say you hardly use now due to buying the plus machine which the two items have slightly went up.
The plus machine has been way less as well.
When looking at the Hotel Chocolat Machine she originally asked for aint this more a hot chocolate maker? Maybe it’s more the hot chocolate thing she is after that a coffee machine with good frothier but it looks like there ain’t much chocolate makers out there.
I may just hold off on all of this just give her something completely different or see if these products get a much better price.
I did want to show her what I had planned to get and yes it maybe is not what she wants but I think I put it on hold for now as she really has her main gifts some of which she does not know what they are.
If any of these items get a crazy good price come Black Friday or prior to Xmas then I may jump on it.

  • Breville The Milk Cafe Milk Frothers And the Bialetti is your cheap method

I missed the mention of Breville Bambino Plus aint this just a coffee machine?

Maybe I best chat with her and see what suits she has an older coffee machine now we got when Amazon first started in Australia and was a bargain price for it then.

So maybe the top to items is all she really needs as does she really need a bambino plus

    • You are using the Bambino Plus to froth milk to make hot chocolate. It is how most cafes do it.
