Got cheap flights to Mackay now looking for a travel buddy!

I just booked a return trip for myself $35 :) yippee
But all my friends seem to have to work that week :( boo
Flying out Monday 17/12 and returning Thursday 20/12 planning to do a Whitsunday sailing trip :) yippee
Flight lands after the greyhound morning bus to Airlie beach :( boo
Find a travel buddy and rent a car to drive there ourselves and have an awesome week :) YIPPEEeeeeeeeeee

    Thanks :) an ozbargainer has already offered to show me around and stay at his place :) but has been such a nightmare getting from Mackay to Airlie Beach. There are 3 buses and 2 trains that leave Mackay for Airlie beach before I land @ 8am. It costs $178 to hire a car for the 2 hour drive…. but $152 to rent it for 3 days and more than $200 for a taxi :( Think I'll end up waiting around for 10 hrs for the evening bus. Any suggestions on what to do for 10hrs in Mackay.
