Belong Modem Help/Advice

Hi guys,

So i want to start churning my folks NBN given the recent belong price rises, they current use their default modem.
The providers I'm looking to churn to use PPOE with user/password etc (sorry I'm not very technical), and I know I will need to go into the modem gateway and plug in a few things.

When I log in to the belong modem, I don't see anywhere to put those details, upon searching, i see TPG has a guide, but doesn't seem to match what I can see on my folks gateway.

For example, TPG step 8 screen looks different (see screenshot)

Anyone used a belong modem with another ISP?

I think your modem might be locked, based on this comment on Whirlpool, that's why some of the settings are missing.

You might want to email Belong customer support and ask them if they can unlock the settings remotely.

But if they can't unlock it then you may have no choice but to start shopping around for a replacement router.

    • Thanks for that

  • What's your connection type (old/new)?

This one said do a factory reset first.

  • Reset, then:
    Internet Connection Type: Dynamic
    VLAN: Not Enabled

  • Can someone explain what is meant by churning folks internet? Like he is your neighbor and you are gona use that?

Churning means moving between providers to get the benefit of intro pricing, like $20 off for 6 months.

      Folks mean parents.

  • I have used Belong router with PPPoE, which one do you have, flat one or tower one?

    • flat one

      • IS it Belong DWA0122? I had the same (later donated to a friend after getting an AX router), and I have used various RSPs.

I mean the 2nd one in the list.

do a hard reset, and there is a place to add PPPoE details.
This guide may help as I can't exactly remember the fine details: https://whrl.pl/RgzexF

        • My folks have the 3rd one on that list.

I think I'll try a hard reset and see what I see. Thanks for that!

  • If I was his folks, I'd be asking him "you don't know how to do this, you are asking other people, and you are going to do this to OUR internet?"

    • I'm happy to test it on your internet first

  • Do you know how much data they use? NBN with monthly billing may not be the lowest cost option.
