Can you change the airpods pro 2 to remove the inner ear plastic so they fit the same as these?

      • +2

I dare say the superior ANC would come from the form factor of the Pro's being properly in ear. Personally I can't use any buds like the Pro's as much as I've tried even with different tips, but can see why they'd be a better choice at similar price points for people that can. I've got the Gen 2 and Gen 3 of this model and love them, not sure I can justify the purchase of these ones though…right?

        • +1

Superior noise cancelling* and sound quality from being in ear and better sealed. Further, PNC (passive) is ergonomic design that leads to the best ear seal and ANC about the hardware and software quality.

      • You can get different tips. Personally i use silicone ones which have a good ear fit (better than the Airpods 3 that i had prior)

Airpods pro 2 were much cheaper few weeks back. This price is not justified and I don't see a value deal

    • Especially with the extra features, like precision finding, and better ANC. I don't think this price is justified.

      • I too, do not think this price is justified.

    • +10

I guess it also depends on preference, I personally hate the gel/rubber tips and prefer the hard plastic since it sits nicer in my ear. So to me being able to get "most" of the features of the pros 2 at a similar price point is a pretty good deal.

      • Hehehe … typical Boshwack.

I agree, the price comparison to the Pros is apples and oranges for people that hate earphones with tips. Personally, I will be using ~$30-50 earphones from now. The sound quality is comparable for non-audiophiles and I’ve had persistent connectivity issues with the 1st and 2nd gen AirPods.

I'm currently rocking the 3rd gen AirPods, I likely won't switch from apples earphones just because of how easily it can connect to my mac, ipad and phone at the same time. Gotta love being trapped in the Apple Ecosystem!

          • @Bojack420: Ah true, device switching is handy.
How is the fit of the 3rd gens for you? Gens 1 & 2 fit me perfectly but the 3s were way too big. I think I have relatively small ears.

            • +1

@alcadive: I've heard they are very hit or miss with how they fit but I will say they fit me perfectly. I don't think I have very big ears either but I have no clue.

      • Good luck trying to clean them though. That is why I avoid this style of earbud because it gets absolutely disgusting with ear wax buildup (you may or may not have this problem). The Pro tip can be easily removed and cleaned without wax reaching the speaker. I also hated the fit of the AirPods 3, simply smiling would cause them to move and fall out of my ears. Although that is subjective to the individual ear shape I suppose.

        • I'm currently rocking the airpod 3s and they fit me incredibly well, so yeah I reckon it really does depend on ear shape and size. I've also not had much earwax build up in them at all, I think I've cleaned them a total of once in the past 2 or so years. I've had far less earwax building up compared to my previous airpod 1s. I think the speaker area is bigger and doesn't go as deep. But I also might just be lucky.

        • I just use a scrunched up tissue, maybe dampen it a bit with a wet wipe but otherwise they're super easy to clean.

No one would buy these over the 2 just on specs, it's based on style/fit. These are not inner ear/blocking, so entirely different. It's like comparing open back headphones to closed headphones.

Just an FYI for people about to buy some buds and considering Jabra. They have announced they are finished in the ear buds market, transitioning the company elsewhere

Costco are selling these for $279
    https://www.costco.com.au/Electronics/Audio-Video/AirPods/Ai…

You can then go to Officeworks for them to price match and beat it by 5%.
You dont even need proof of your Costco membership for the price match.

I did this and got them for $265.99

yeah I would rather get the pros for that price.

  • Got these in the ebay sale for $238(Thai grey import) and for someone coming from airpods 1, I have been very surprised with how good the ANC works. and it was a big change going from in-ear airpods to these, but I got used to them in 2-3 days. They fit decently in my ears although it would depend on your ear's shape, but the fit is so much better than airpods 3. Battery life is decent, and the smaller case is great to carry around and the ability to charge with the apple watch charging cable is a welcome change as well. If you don't like in-ear earbuds, then these are the earbuds for you.

  • I would wait and see whether we get a Black Friday sale.

  • Was sceptical of its ANC abilities since it's not an in ear bud and was blown away when I tried these on at the apple store. Absolutely craps on my beats studio buds plus in terms of ANC.

  • These or 9 Tozo A1s?

    • if you always owns iphone, this is a no brainer

  • had to cancel ebay $240 to get these for $30 more due to going overseas. Early November or get it tomorrow for $30 more. sadness

    • +1
