Selsun…. that's a blast from the past! Mum made me use it regularly…. I guess she didn't want me to look like father.
Back then selsun used to have claims to be effective against baldness. I was bald as a badger at 25, but didn't try to get her money back.

From the Googles, 'It turned out that the expression “as bald as a badger” comes from Victorian times when the original expression was: “as bald as a badger's backside”. Badger's hair was used to make men's shaving brushes. Brush makers would trap badgers and take the hair from their derrieres and then set them free.'

Looks like you had a close shave.

        Damn, imagine the poor Badgers.

"Hey Jim, what's happened to your arse ? It looks bald and sore !!"
"Hi Bob. Those damn humans again, every time I get caught in a trap those bastards pull out a few handfuls of hair, then just send me on my way. WTF is wrong with them"
"That sucks man, humans are the worst."

        • @Nom
that leads me to try to travel back to my school years. I can't recall…. did badgers come from brazil originally?

      • @Daabido
hmmmms… interesting info! I wonder if someone used to pluck out a handful each night as I slept. Though it would have to aliens, not family, as the condition continued when I lived alone.

    • Not baldness but I believe it still worked well for certain things that could cause hair to fall out.

Active ingredient of selsun gold: Selenium sulfide:
used to treat dandruff and a certain scalp infection (seborrheic dermatitis).
It reduces itching, flaking, irritation, and redness of the scalp.
Selenium sulfide is also used for a condition that causes discoloration of the skin (tinea versicolor).
This medication belongs to a class of medications called anti-infectives. It works by slowing the growth of the yeast that causes the infection.

      • Looks like you've still got it Fred! No dancing around that topic!
