  Love my scotch. And love Johnnie Walker Black and Green of the JW family. Have not tried the Blue or the other offerings in the upper price brackets.

  But this - the Gold - is a major disappointment in terms of taste and depth. It's a commercial offering that shames the brand in its blandness. Not offensive by any stretch - just bleh.

  Great price compared to retail but if you're buying for someone who loves great scotch whisky blends, be it yourself or a friend/family member, then my advice is to look elsewhere.

  YMMV of course.

  Yeah, used to be a fan of the Johnny Gold but back in 2009 the switched out the 18YO for the Johnny Gold Reserve. Haven't been able to justify buying it since then.

  Double black is a great drop when on special and so it the Green (15). The gold though - Meh.
